Hey slop, ya it was wet. Going again tomorrow, my brother and his son are here from Texas. Shoooting isn’t real bad, but sure wish it could be a little better. Always fun to hunt with family, but with his boy just starting, sure would like to get him a few more shots. Anyway he has to learn it is not always just set up and fire away. maybe see ya on the marsh–John

Got out today, mid morning. Had birds flying right away, but stayed a little far out. Then the geese started to fly, left the dekes at home, wouldn’t ya know. I have a wedding to go to, but bros’s are still out, we did manage 3 ducks and 2 geese before I left. good luck hunting—John

Hi Dave, I have done it, but it was a long time ago. The tool used was my friends dads. What I remember is it had a handle with a metal rod 12-12 inches long. Plugged it in and stuck it in the ground the full lenght. It kind of made the ground shake, in a couple seconds, up came the crawlers and we grabbed them. If I remember right we couldn’t get real close to the rod. ah memories I probably would not have remembered had it not been for your post. thanks -John

thanks to skeeter boat center for making the boats and staff available to take us lookers out. Was very informative, saw things that I may have never seen under the water while in the black river. Was also nice to meet James. Thanks to Dave for the lesson on side imaging.–John

Bret, just a small split shot, hook and pice of crawler, didn’t have time to try the bobber.

the boat is much nicer, if for no other reason than the wakes from the bigger boats. Much safer when I have the grandson out. And the room is a grweat help. Erick, what Bret said, anchor just obove and piece of crawler to front, top or back. I have found, get toward the tip in this lower flow for the larger gills.

was out last nite for a couple of hours. was looking for some gills on wingdams. Could not keep the bass off my line, lost count on how many i caught. had 2 over the 18 inch mark and others of all sizes. these were all caught on one dam, sure was fun on light tackle. I was using leeches and piece of crawler.–John

thanks guys, yes Bret it was on pool 8 Sat. the 4th. The fish was 28 inches and I didn’t get a weight. Equals the best fish I have ever caught. Fishing a few miles south of the dam, caught in 9 ft on a white hair jig tipped with a minnow. and yes, caught in the upper lip. I would like to thank Bret for posting this pic for me. good luck on the water to all–John

well, today the first outing for me. My buddy and I fished blue lake between LaCrosse and Lacrescent. I won’t be fishing there for awhile. I stepped through in 15 ft of water. As we walked off my buddy went to his crotch on the same track we walked in on. Alot of water on top of the ice, maybe that is why. But the ice there is not safe in my opinion. just a heads up.–john
