    Whiskerkev,

I’m not exactly sure what your meaning is. Give me a call so I have a better idea and I can give you a price.

Now I’m going to get yelled at for talking walleyes in the catfish forum.

Is this true? Are the molds not representitive of a fish like this?

This is true. River walleyes have much different dimensions than a lake fish of the same size. To fix this, I’ve partnered with a river fisherman to have new molds made that will reflect these types of fish. I am hoping to have some examples soon, but I’m at the mercy of a supplier and I have customers that want there mounts in a timely manner. I’m hesitant to give a time frame when these will be done, but the sooner the better is what I’m trying for.

I forgot. I have to be a little more careful where I post the fighting fish.

How ’bout a carp replica?? I did not keep the fish….How do you do a replica without the fish? The only carp molds I’ve been shown from other taxidermists just don’t look right as they are usually European fish and are the only ones available for the size I need.

I never have a fish when I do a replica. Well thats almosts 100% true. Picture and measurements is all I need. See the first post above.
I can make a replica with just measurements but it’s not going to look like the one you caught because it never fails. The translation from your eye to your mouth to my ear to what I create always loses something.

That’s why pictures are so important.

The best thing I can tell you is to give me a call. You might get the recorder because I’m working on mounts, but I’ll call you back as soon as I get the hair, feathers or glue off my fingers.

Those are replicas. They just don’t show up on a computer very well. But it should give you an idea.

I think this would look nice just inside a flat head mouth.

    Thanks John,

I’ve been doing this for over 30 years. There isn’t much I haven’t done. I’ve stopped doing poisonous snakes, but everything from Giraffes to Zebras to 104 pound lake sturgeon to smallies.

I just put up some pictures of muskies and northerns in the muskie forum.

    Here’s a couple smallies I did.

They don’t look the same as they do in real life. The spots just don’t “float” on film.

Almost three months and I’m back. Man what a busy couple months!

These are replicas. I know someone will ask the length of these fish and I’ll tell you now that I don’t know. I have to find the paper work for them. I hope the colors show up on these computer screens.

Thanks for having me here! I’ve read many of your posts Kooty.

how many muskie replicas do you get requested?

I really can’t answer that too accurately. I’ve done over a hundred I’m very sure. I never thought of taking pictures of them. I did have a fellow take some pictures of some mammal mounts once. Getting back to Musky’s, I have to have a good color photo of them.

There are so many different types, spots and bars. Many times the colors seem to float on top of other colors. They do take more time that other types of fish. I like to think my customers would rather wait a little longer and have their memory perfect than to hurry it along and end up with something you’re not happy with.

I’m not good at typing and I have to go.

I want to be on line once a day if possible, I’m not sure how that’s going to work but please feel free to call with questions!

Jason that is a priceless memory of your daughter and her fish! A true memory to capture!

Well, I’m a little higher than that. I rather give quotes over the phone. Click on my banner below for my phone number.

The one thing that I guarantee is that you will not leave my shop with a fish that isn’t perfect to you.

What helps me a lot are photo’s (lots of photo’s) from a number of angles and good measurements. With photo’s I can even make deformities as accurate as the photo allows!

With those two pieces and some input from you, it will be proportioned and colored exactly as your fish was.

    Guaranteed!

    22 inches!

You’ll have to give me some instruction on how to catch one that large!

It’s truly a shame this animal wasn’t taken legally.

Bk? Anyone ever suggest that you might want to stop in to a marine engine repair shop? Get your head bolts torqued. Seems there might be a screw or two loose.

Well, Brian is right…I don’t spend much time on the computer and wow…was I surprised and pleased to receive such a warm welcome from everyone! I have been busy working on deer (my own to hunt and others to mount) as it is one of Wisconsin’s busiest times of year. I had a really nice 13 point buck come in on opening day and that will become a full standing mount by the time I am finished. I hope the Minnesota hunters had as good a year as well.

I am looking forward to meeting some of you at Dean’s in the future. I will try to remember and post when I am coming to visit Dean so that if you have any specific questions I will try to be prepared to answer them.

He hasn’t asked about it yet. I was just getting comfortable doing his big fish! Although I really do like a challenge…hmmm…maybe I should have a chat with him.

Glad you liked the gar mount, it was quite interesting to do! Ron really does like to send me challenging work. Keeps me on my toes!
