Speaking of Bulls, here’s one of my favorite photos. I don’t remember where it came from, so if it’s yours… Thanks!

Will do. I bought a large net with a long handle last year and this year I replaced the handle with a couple sections of the handle from my roof rake so I could fish off a wall on the river. It’s worked well,so I should be set. I can add or take off sections as needed. It works really well.
Thanks again for the advice.
Mike
Longer rod,check.
Larger reel,check.
I’m glad I asked.
I know what you mean about the advantage of a longer rod and the shock dampening effect. I’ve landed fish on line that would have been way too light had it been on a shorter, stouter rod.
Thanks,CT. I hope to get up there soon to put your advice to work.
Mike
Thanks for the information, everyone.
I’m new to the North Shore game, so I’ve got a question.
What sort of rods & line are best for fishing from shore up there?
I’m thinking a 7′ medium action rod with 10# mono would do?
Could I go with a 10′ to fling the hardwear way out there, or is that overkill?
Le Suer, isn’t that where the Jolly Green Giant stands over his corn and pees?
I’ll be fishing tomorrow night (6/9).
If you’d like some company, shoot me a message.

Yeah, I should have called. I wasn’t thinking about anything other than getting the heck out of there, though.
I’ll be calling a few people like my city councilman. Maybe calling the tv station that covered the sting wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Maybe we should petition our congressmen to make it illegal to troll on shore.
Thanks, Dave.
The reel is 3″ in diameter, not very heavy. I’ve used musky reels that weighed almost as much. I’ll bring it to Moore’s one of these days and you can see what you think.
Yeah, the resistance with a levelwind can be an issue.
I’ll take it out and try it anyway. Just wondered if anyone else had used one. I’ll post on the results after I try it a few times.
Now I’m starting to get creeped out.
I was out on Sunday afternoon, (6/3) driving around looking for new shore fishing spots on the Miss. around Minneapolis/St. Paul.
I found some places that were obviously party spots for local kids. There were the usual signs, beer cans and remnants of campfires. That’s normal, I was one of those kids growing up near the river on the East side of St. Paul.
I wandered down one trail on the border of St. Paul and MPLS, and ran into a guy who was just standing there on the trail. Didn’t think much of it and kept going. Ran into another guy 50 ft. down the trail. Another guy, 50 ft. farther, and when I met the fourth guy, I suddenly got the feeling that something was just not right. Then it dawned on me, there was a place farther up the river near the U of M that was known as a place where (how can I put this in a politically correct way?) um, there was unsavory activity among men in the woods. (remember the movie Deliverance?)
Well cheese and rice! Can’t a guy just go fishing and mind his own business without this kind of crap?!!
Thanks, guys.
I kinda figured that was the case. I just haven’t caught one n that area.
Yet.
Excellent idea!
But I don’t think it would go over too well here in the Peoples Republic of Minneapolis.
Any fish, any time. That’s the one I want to catch.
If I get skunked, well, it’s just part of growin’ up.
I know Beer snobs,Music snobs,Food snobs,Fish snobs,the list goes on…
I don’t think any of them will die happy.
Being angry or overly disappointed because you caught the wrong kind of fish is like blaming a compass for pointing North.
I have personal goals and dreams. Of course I want to catch the trophy, or whatever I’m targeting. But if the day ever comes when I can’t enjoy just being in a boat, or standing in the water waving a stick, please, someone, push me under and hold me there.
