Thanks to all for the nice comments — me and my family hope to enjoy it for a long time! (I’m pretty stoked with how it turned out too!)

    Holy smokes!

My intent here wasn’t to create a huge dust-up — like I said, I was just feeling frustrated for what appears to be a gross mis-overbilling.

But truley thanks to the people telling me to “get off my [censored] and call them” (nicely) — I called this morning and am in the process of verifying part numbers and pricing with them.

It sounds like they are willing to at least investigate the billing with me so +1 for them for now.

I’ll let you know how it turns out.

I think anyone can do well.

The tourney that got me hooked was on the pond at the wharf… as we putted towards the walking bridge, Team Cabelas (50k Ranger & Nifty Matching Life Vests ) had a total weight of 0.00lbs. My friend and I had fish to weigh and finished top 20 out of 130ish. Not too shabby. And it taught me that ANYONE can do well in these things.

One more quicky tourney story… 4-5 years ago I’m fishing the Red Door with my father in law. After day 1 we were in something like 5th place – in the money and feeling good. We went back to our trailer at Castaways that night and due to our excessive celebration never actually made it out to fish day 2! That’s some SERIOUS tourney fishin!!

My work doesn’t allow activesynch to Android yet because remote kill isn’t out until Froyo/2.2.

So.. being the crafty sucker I am, I found an App called “Touchdown for Android 2.0/2.1” which (if you can believe it) authenticates to, screen scrapes, and data matches to the phone’s local copy. Then posts back any actions.

It’s slow as all get-out on synch but better than using Dolphin Browser to login to OWA manually.

Seriously? You’re going with that? How did my ‘manhood’ come into this?

Maybe I should be toughguy hardcore where I am going to walk in and take some names and kick some [censored]? Then what? Temporary satisfaction of chewing someone and 8 hours later I feel just as ripped off because and they told me I paid it and it is what it is?

My point is shop around on this stuff and don’t get taken to the cleaners like I did.

If you spend 50% or more of your time using your phone responding to and writing exchange/outlook based emails then Blackberry hands down.

Any other usage and an Android phone will destroy everything about a Blackberry.

The Moto Droid X is the ticket — it’s due out before the end of July on Verizon.

I wish I could watch it. I haven’t been able to bring myself to watching it for the last 4 weeks because I know what’s coming. I’ll try and pick it up next season.

It sounds so silly but it really breaks my heart for those kids and all of us he connected with in some way.

Don’t sink too much $$$ into it, Force was not known as a great motor.

I hate to do some smack talking, but I would never own a force, even if it were given to me. Yikes.

Dislike piling one but my dad dumped his boat because it had a Force. He bought it new… ran like junk from day one.

I’ve had the same problem with that seal on other Shimanos. Looking it over I’m not sure what it’s sealing in the first place. I have just removed it and reels have been 100% since then.

Lac Seul is can’t miss for numbers. I’ve been going to Lac Seul 1-3 times a year for 8 years and while a lake like Mille Lacs can’t be beat for per-fish weight (especially last couple years) Lac Seul numbers can make your arms sore… literally.

The best fishing this last week for us was Thursday morning. A low front moved in after rain Wednesday night and the fish became really active. I counted from 8:30 am-1:30pm that day and had boated 65 eyes myself (not including my dad’s catch) with 55-60 of them prior to 11:30. I would guess (didn’t count this) that 15-20% of the fish were 18in-23in. Nice quality fish and tons of them but no pigs. Most (full) days were probably 75-80 fish days per person — still very good.

One other nice thing about Lac Suel, at least the East side fish, Bishop’s Rock to Sen Bay, is that you don’t see a lot of boats… when you do see boats it’s just as likely to be a fuel or supply boat running to a base camp as a fishing vessel.

We take a houseboat out of Hudson from Lac Seul Floating Lodges owned by Irene and Dave. They are a great outfit if you choose to go that way. Also we’ve stayed many time at a place called “Country Cabins” which is just south of Lost Lake (connected to Lac Seul) and again I’de recommend them.

    Tight Lines!

    103 boats registered this year.

Wally and Jacki had a real nice bag of fish. 13.8 lbs if I remember right. For the tourney, only one large fish weighed, that one was 28.5″ 7.38lb — forget who caught it.

Rick Clifton and I weighed about 7lbs on day one which put us somewhere in the high 20’s — but — after yesterday all day in the sun, and the humidity today, and well.. last night we just drove over to the Red Door and turned in our number this morning.

Bite was still really good. Caught massive numbers of 24-26 inch fish with the rare 17-19’s taking the line only 4 times for us.

Being a shimano guy, I’ve owned sahara, symetre, and stradic line reels. Some I’ve gotten as gifts, others bought on my own. Hands down I will buy the stadics from here on out. They now run around $120 and they are smooth, smooth, smooth.

I’ve burned out (bail springs, bearings, gears) on every other shimano reel I’ve owned and yet I still have stradics when they were made with wood handles that work just great. The only fishing I do with my spinning reels is walleye… either dragging snells or more likely vertical jigging and I wouldn’t hesitate for a second recommending the stadics.

MB — I absolutely didn’t say it was a terrible pick. I just said that he was a 2nd rounder and I would have rather taken Hodge for this new defensive scheme.

As far as size — I think he’s undersized — lol. While there are exceptions like Tedy Bruschi at 247, most of today’s quality linebackers are bigger.

    Ray Lewis 250
    Brian Urlacher 258
    Jeremiah Trotter 262
    Joey Porter 250
    Mike Vrabel 262
    Marcus Washington 250

10-20 lbs of muscle is a TON to these guys in their effectiveness to hit hard as well as TAKE HITS. Linebacker is a brutal position and these guys need that size.

Also, don’t forget this is Greenways SECOND knee problem. He underwent reconstructive surgery in 2002.

So… with all that said, if we were going to take an undersized linebacker anyways, gimme hogde. He’s faster to the hole, has better explosiveness to the outside giving him better range on pass coverage and he hits like a TRUCK. Finally, he doesn’t miss as many tackles as greeway because he doesn’t leave his feet as often and he plays lower on the tackle. While irrelevant now, if someone can come up with a missed tackles per game stat that would be sweet… I’d like to see it.

Yap, Lowrance calls it the PPP-16I Portable Power Pack.

Includes the bag, base plate, battery, charger, ice ducer, and all the ducer bracket parts. Only thing it doesn’t come with is the gimbal bracket. It fits in a bucket. They even have an optional adapter that allows it to run off of D cells should your packs battery die.

It basically turns a unit like a 334c into a x68i but with a bigger screen… that way a guy doesn’t have money into both his boat sonar/gps AND an ice sonar/gps because they are the same unit!

At risk of starting a controversy, I’m not the biggest Greenway fan in the world. Honestly, I would have rather had Hodge (his teammate at Iowa). Greenway benefited in this years draft because the outside linebacker selection was thin to say the least. Even though he was 4th in the nation in tackles per game, in my opinion, he’s a 2nd round pick at best. You can’t coach size and believe me, he’s undersized. While he has speed, he’s not a run stopper.. instead he’s a cover guy.. ala Kailee Wong. Hodge on the other hand is a run stopper. That’s important because of the constant penetration running backs get on our D line and linebacking core. We needed a LB to plug holes… and Greenway is not that guy.

With that said, it’s extremely unfortunate a guy so young and with so talented was injured. But on the bright side, I don’t think he was going to be the impact player projected for this tampa 2 defense and at least is happened now and not in week 2 or 3 when he got E.J. Henderson’s starting position. At least now we have time to backfill.

    My 2 cents.

Brian I think we could give the baitshop a good ole makeover. For example he’s got an entire wall of K Grubs, Ring Worms and alike.. all those packages, different clashing colors… I am volunteering to stop by and help you clear off that entire wall, as well as the others, (obviously at no charge to you) to help Dean with the baitshop makeover of a lifetime. Heck, I’ll even haul the stuff away. I can’t even imagine the look on his face.

Lemme know what you think, drop me a PM.

    Boone,

I heard the windshield theory too. The first unit I bought worked the same behind, on top of, aside, etc the windshield as if I held it 2 feet above my windshield.

The second unit (the one I have now) worked like garbage the first 1/2 day. Then it seemed to figure out what the heck it was supposed to be doing and it’s ran great ever since.

I was talking to another IDA’er at the gun club a few weeks back and he had a very similar experience as I had. Additionally, my uncle has a 334 and the first unit he had was garbage. Lowrance replaced it and it ran awesome (like mine) on Lac Seul in July.

From all that I can only start to lean towards thinking that the newer units are actually improved. If it works on the ice for me this winter as well as it’s working now I will be one fricken happy camper.

I’ll be interested in hearing how yours turn out. Also.. one more thought… if you can, check the date of manufacture on the unit they are equiping your boat with. Might give you an indication as to your success.

    Goodluck!!

I watched a guy bond a harness together, underwater, with this stuff . Then he lifted a 1/2 ton pickup with a crane using the harness on the discovery channel. Might be worth looking in to.
