Our classes are a little messed up. To get a hunting license you need a safety course where you do plenty of shooting with Pistols, rifles, and shotguns.

I am not sure if this class is required or not for CC but if not it should be.

BTW, the only time I actually carry is when I am in the woods or out somewhere ( north end of mille lacs ) where I actually think I might need to have a weapon. Other than that, I like being able to have a weapon in close proximity just in case. As for IL..
I can tell you all first hand that if you are not carrying you are kind of an idiot. I was maneuvered into a dead end alley off Wacker in downtown with my wife and son in the truck. When they blocked the road I swerved right into the trap.. ( as I am sure they have done prior ). When I tried to get turned around they blocked the truck. I did not have a weapon and was forced to put my family in jeopardy. I sweet talked my way out of things with all the cash I had in my pocket and the pack of smokes on my dash. After I had time to think about what had happened I realized 2 things. 1. That they saw my son in the back ( little kid at the time ) and were at least decent enough to ust take what they could, and 2. That when they approached the truck that the first dude looked in the window close to see if I had a weapon. As soon as he knew he was in the clear he pretty much dictated the end result.

All in all, I am satisfied with the result. Next time, I will run those bastages over and not look back, If I am in a corner the only words I will udder are to my family to “get down”.

The restrictions are similar. I am guessing that either they have not noticed our laws have changed and / or its just a matter of updating.. At least that’s what I am hoping. I saw the pics last year of the wolves out on the ice killing deer. I think it was LOW but I might be mistaken.

ITs not like the old days where they would issue restrictions. Its been changed so that they ( Sheriffs office ) has to prove you are unfit to carry. IE, Felony, domestic assault, etc…. But, If you have a permit and are carrying and get popped for DUI.. Felony and no guns for you the rest of your life…

A better question. Why does IA recognize MN right to carry law but MN does not reciprocate the recognition? Not that I am ever without one.. It just seems odd.

Anyway, The water is stuid low and if the water is deeper than your waist you shoundn’t have any trouble. Its like fish in a barrel and I am not kidding in the least. I suspect that if we do not get rain we will have a massive kill this winter.

Hit up palo outdoors and see if they have any demo rod racks in the basement. You might get a heck of a deal if they do. I have one of the old st Croix demo racks and it works and looks great.

Agreed, The ice does build up. I know I shouldn’t but I just give it a couple good wacks on he ground and it comes off. I love mine, starts 1st pull and I have never had an issue. Cuts like butter.

Just make sure it has an all metal gearbox.. My son and I both have the electric AK style.. They are hella fun.

Better yet, what have you found in your livewell.. Baby birds, a snake once, lampre, a bobber ( wasn’t in before I tossed the fish in there ).. Pleanty of baits, one bass tossed up a 10 inch poswer lizard.

If worse comes to worse, You can write up a bill of sale to me, we both go to the court house and put it in my name ( you willhave to pay $35 and then I sign it back over to you. There are no boat titles here, just a sign off on the registration. You then take it back to MN and you are good to go. Like I said… If worse comes to worse…

Oh, and you will have to pay sales tax so the bill of sale should read about $100 and it will cost you 7 bucks.

X3. If you do not use the snap your crankbait will often not have the proper action and / or it will not be correctly balanced. Braid just makes the problem more evident and the baits tend to try and roll when speading up your retrieve.

Go spend a day in the sand pits. You will find pleny of fish to catch and discover all sorts of things to toss a bait at.

Yeah, I hadn’t been fishing up there for a while, I am sure you rememer the good old Team Supreme ( pre crook ) days. Many of these areas were “secrets” lol. Side note… the wind kept me out of greymore and the top end of mudd lake which would have both given up plenty of fish. If you are in the area check out the north bay of greymore up my the resturant. They love to spawn up in tis area.A couple more spots I really wanted to fish was the wingdams just south of 5 fingers on the island side, the bay just north of the yellow river, the east /west portion of the river about 3 miles north of the boat ramp. there are a bunch of closing dams trying to protect the bank. I typically pick up early smalies on these rocks and dams. both sides of the river can be rally good. Lastly and probably the area I would have started in… Bagly bay..
