nice. i started using them last year. wasnt sure how well i would like climbing with one but it is just as simple as without one amd it feels a lot safer stepping into the stand. i been telling all my hunting buddies to give them a try.

August 21, 2014 at 8:48 pm #1447527if it is a small lake like most around where i live i will go fish and watch the dock and just pick them up if they show. but if it is a big body of water where i cant see the dock i would fish around the dock for 10 minutes max. i am always on time and to me it is disrepectful to be late
August 18, 2014 at 4:03 pm #1446470thanks for the replies. kind of what i was expecting to hear as far as rods go. using a higher power rod due to the pull of the bait. think i will purchase a calcutta and either an 8’6″ or 9′ rod. Probably will have to weight til tax time though. i have an 8 foot xh premier rod now that i can use til i upgrade. here is a pic of a 43″ muskie i got on my first ever lake of the woods trip 2 weeks ago.

May 6, 2014 at 1:26 pm #1408819i have fished it a bit over the years. i am up there mid june normally though. get crappies on the north end of the lake then. the bluegill fishing is good. small mouth and walleye can be had around the island. last few years the eyes were mostly just short of 15 but got a few keepers. also have done good on walleye in 12 ft of water along the weedlines on the east side of the lake. some nice pike but it is definetly loaded with hammerhandles. good luck. post a report not sure if i am going to make it this year but my grandpa and uncles will be up in the area in june

December 28, 2006 at 11:09 pm #516167My dad, grandpa and I fish tuesday and wendesday. Got to everets at 11 tuesday got our cabin then headed out to the dam. Fished from noon til a little after dark. the 3 of us caught 53 saugers that day all on plastics. Chartruse pepper super doo’s were the ticket. Wendesday we hit the water at sun up and fished until noon. We end the day with 63 saugers from up at the dam. Once again it was the chartruse pepper super doo’s. the orange super doo was good too that day. Good luck if you go and let us know how you did. I did try a little pitching tuesday night with one real small walleye to show for my efforts.

Does catching a fish like this usually have a strange effect on people?
The is no other feeling like it in my opinion. IMO I would compare the feeling to that of a first deer.
