Looking forward to putting some slime in that ride of yours in 10 days with Greg. Hope you can put him on a 40″ pike he has wanted one for a while. Of course you would then put me on a 45″er a few minutes later. haha

Hoping to get up. Started a new job and time off is hard to come by. Usually fish both sides with RABC. Targets are Pike Bass and Walleyes. We only keep a few eaters otherwise catch and release. Never use live bait and only fish shallow (Don’t know how to fish deep). Been going to Rainy since 1980 and stay on a Rainy Lake Houseboats. The Dougherty family has always been great to my crew. Pics are my bro with a nice walleye. My son with his first 40″ pike. I started before the slot was in place and the fishing has gotten better every year since it was imposed.

Chris I could only manage to get a 42″er last year. Still looking for one over 45″. What is neat is that I caught 2 smallies on a rock in a foot of water then I casted to the deeper side in about 3 feet of water and the pike was waiting. Love shallow water action. JP

I have to agree. There is nothing like it. While my crew goes up in May and we don’t get to enjoy the summer weather, fishing Rainy on a housboat is the best thing you could ever do. My friends say” When we check out from RLB is when they start thinking about next year”.

I see the top of her tail is chewed off. I have had quite a few of these large pike with the same issue in the spring. Is it from the spawn?
