I have a 2007 500 EFI. Have had no problems. Starts easy and runs great. I do not have a lot of miles on it, ~600.

It typically starts good in the winter, as long as the battery holds charge.

    I have no complaints.

I also have a 2010 550 EFI. This is also a good machine. Much more HP than the old 500.

    Just returned from Miller area.

It was tough, public land was pretty much a bust, road ditches produced, but that was tough also.

Still at least 50% of the corn in and 25% of the beans.

I would estimate the pheasant population was down 50% from last year.

These units are both compatable with i-pilot link, correct? Is there anything else required to make the i-pilot link functional i.e. cables, connectors etc. (other than what came with my terrova, which has i-pilot link).

If I wanted to use one of these at my bow with the univesal transducer in my Terrova the HD only unit would probably make more sense? Or would the universal sonar not be a good idea?

    Thanks,
    JT

Do you have a review of your N82 IWB holster?

I have been looking for one that is not as big and cumbersome as the King Tuk style.

The N82 holsters look pretty good.

Steve I hope you shoot an APR buck this year………..

But your beliefs shouldn’t be forced on others, and frankly your constant APR posts are getting old.

I can tell you the ammo situation is affecting gun sales.

I am in the market for a handgun, but will not buy one until ammunition is readily available.

Why shell out $1,000 for a handgun I can not use. The money can sit in my bank account acruing interest until the hoarders have had their fill.

Crane and the connecting waters make it easy to hide out of the wind. Doesn’t get too rough because of the smaller lakes also.

I use the plano take down shotgun case.

Works good for 4 rod/reel combos.

I think of it like a throwing a baseball. you should not be aiming. Enough practice and it becomes second nature that requires no thought.

I think it is tough to be really good at both rifle shooting and shotgunning. I am sure there are people out there that are, but they are really different ways to shoot and completely different methods to shoot something.

Polaris makes smaller units, 200 and 300 models.
I have a hawkeye that is a 300, much smaller than the sportsmans.

I would say the benefits of EFI far outweigh the disadvantages. I would not buy another one that didn’t have EFI, and I currently have both.

I agree, Ipad is just a large Ipod. Great for playing music and surfing the web, adequate for email.

But by no means is it set up for business. It actually is quite cumbersome to use for work.

Pound out a breast wrap it around some jalepeno and then wrap the breast with bacon, bake it until the bacon is crispy. Maple bacon really gives it a nice flavor.

    #4 lead, #2 steel.

I shoot 3″, 12 ga. all year long. I also hunt public land, and hate losing wounded birds.

I would recommend buying a cheap meat grinder. If all you process is a deer or 2 a year. The cost to process 1 or 2 deer would pay for it.
It is fairly simple to cut up the animal into steaks roasts etc. The grinder get your burger done as well as sausage if you want to try that, and with pre-mixed sausage cures it is very easy.

The cabelas line of grinders are nice, and the smaller units are reasonably priced.

I have nothing to offer in way of the Franchi, but i do own a M2 and like it a lot. It is light, smooth and has been very reliable over the past 4 seasons.
    I would buy another.

    Plastic Float valve.

    http://www.flemingoutdoors.com/tmtrplflva.html

Get the tank up as high as you can to get as much head to the valve as possible. Minimize piping losses between the tank and the valve.

Possibly submerge the tank in the ground to gain some height.

I love Bearing buddys. Run them or something similiar on every trailer I own.

I have followed the last few bearing buddy threads, and it seems all of the complaints come from them coming off, just like a dust cap will, or the guys who are in there re-packing the bearings every year, maybe not getting the BBs on correctly?

The casual users that gives the hub a couple shots of grease yearly seem to love them

I have a frabil conservation series and I really like the bag.

Had a spring break in the extending handle and the customer service to get it replaced was excellent! The sent me a couple of 2 differnt springs to make sure I got the right one.

If you take the head off, the current drain by the GPS will stop. Still could be a drain from the radio or other devices as pointed out by others.

Need a master switch between the battery and the electonics to stop the GPS from drawing current.

    Another simple one not mentioned.
A blaze orange cap. Especially if you are hunting with others. It makes finding others in your group easier when you pull up on a bird.

I second a light pair of leather gloves, good for picking off burs from yourself and dog.

If hunting with a dog, a leatherman or similiar for all kinds of reasons and one of the most important porcupine quills.

If you can find re-usable cable ties they work good. Delta has given them to me to use to hold handles on a tool bag together. Allows TSA to open and re-seal.

    Good luck.
