January 6, 2008 at 10:36 pm #32801I just got my muzzy deer last weekend so I know how you feel.I got a bow tag and 4 days left not looking good
December 18, 2007 at 8:46 pm #17004I got alot of ifs on this whole season.Iwonder how many first season hunters were going to go to southern or eastern Ia in there original plans and decided not to travel in the bad weather and now will stay close to home and possibly harvest does in area,s that are not so populated.Ijust hope this is the last of surprizes for this year and years to come.I know that alot of calls were made to voice concerns on there decision. But I also worry about the number of calls to state reps thanking them for killing more deer.
December 17, 2007 at 7:46 pm #7285You are correct Steve the phone lines have been ringing off the wall at the DNR and state reps.I hope this is a eye opener that we must be invovled.Alot of lobbying for a good deer is a dead deer.I understand that deer numbers need to be controlled but also we need to meet the needs of the deer hunters. This is just plain scary how they imposed this out of the blue
December 10, 2007 at 12:35 am #631537You also might want to check your gas cap and make sure its venting.I have had this happen to me and it sure sounds like the vent screw needs to be loosened
November 14, 2007 at 9:22 pm #11411I did not use anything on bottom of sled and it seemed to pull easily.Another thing I tried yesterday that worked well was I used it to pick up my decoys.I floated it around with me and stacked my decoys in it and bagged them when I was done I thought it worked great and saved a bunch of time
October 15, 2007 at 7:59 pm #616769Brent this is one of the best run tournys I have ever fished I hope you can keep it going as is
October 3, 2007 at 9:37 pm #613177That sure looks like a nice trophy to take from the river rats and take back to Iowa
October 3, 2007 at 6:25 pm #613096I hope a couple of us Iowa boys can take take that trophy hope from the river rats
September 23, 2007 at 5:46 pm #610341Now thats a nice mess of yellows and fun on light tackle.THANKS FOR THE REPORT
September 20, 2007 at 12:10 am #609575I have stayed at Parkway and it was decent but if I could book a room they have a unit that sets by itself thats real nice and plug ins are just outside
September 4, 2007 at 6:01 pm #605397I use a piece of meat under the chin of a yellow if I think it will not live in livewell I will put it in the boat cooler to keep it for cleaning.I do know some have figured out the crappie as a angler was cleaning a nice mess of 10in plus fish at cleaning station
September 3, 2007 at 11:46 pm #605215Good to see you back on the water Bill. What a beautiful weekend
August 28, 2007 at 7:42 pm #603921I agree with Big Dog10 they can ruin a lake.A few years back Clear Lake was overpopulated with them and it took a few years to get it back in balance.I think the fishing pressure is keeping there numbers in check for now.I have always posted to not feel guilty about keeping as many as you want.Hopefully the pressure will keep the lake balanced and still provide some decent sized fish
August 25, 2007 at 11:50 pm #603346Most often in the husky jerks I run the 3in shallow husky jerk and 4 in deep husky jerk.I might add Baldwin4 that the shallow Husky jerks have worked good at Clear lake Ia early in the year
August 25, 2007 at 10:27 pm #603337I would say that the lures you mentioned are probaly what 70% of what most of us use on most bodys of water.I have a good selection of colors and sizes of those baits and a selection of stick baits both deep and shallow.Being a tourny angler I got a large selection of other cranks but 90% of the time they just go for a boat ride.If I cannot get them on a Rapala product then most likely I ran out of daylight
August 19, 2007 at 1:05 am #601210I don,t like it they should have left it at one.Alot more hunters will target the divers which will result in more bluebills and cans being harvested.I hope this was not a polictical favor.Like extending the season down south a couple years back even though the wildlife service advised agaist it

August 18, 2007 at 12:48 am #601024It could be just a anxiety deal.My lab when I have been gone a week he pee,s as soon as he me.He might be just excited about getting to go play.If you say he did not start this until you started working him I would consider this. Now when he is let out he probaly thinking he is going for a swim and I do believe a lab will get that excited to me there just like a 5 yr old kid.But you got to love them.Good luck
