Phew! You had me worried there. I was thinkin maybe there was a new law or something. One c-c-c-c-c-crankbait??!!! See, I can’t even say it.

I have admitted my addition, I attend crankbaitoholics anonamous religiously, but that does not mean I am cured. If I could only have 1 crankbait, I’d probably just end it all.

Not even Eve could resist the fruit!

One crankbait, who ya tryin to kid???!!!

You’ll get my Pearl #5 JSR when you pry it from my cold, dead hands.

Kind of interesting responses, I’ve decided to stick with Fireline over PP.

PP did not cast as well for me – I get better distance with light lures on fireline – significantly.

The response about knot strength made earlier is right on. PP has better knot strength, Fireline does have a tendancy to break off at the knot.

Thing is, when I need to break a superline, I pretty much ‘need to break it’. It’s cuz I’m snagged so bad, I’m not getting my lure back – so I just have to pull hard enough to break the line. With PP – It can break anywhere – I ONCE made the mistake of not backtracking, and broke it – it broke right at the reel. So much for that $13 worth of line – time to spool up.

Fireline breaks by the knot, for fraying – strip off some line – it still doesn’t break unless I ‘need’ to.

And – looking forward to more time with ‘crystal’ fireline, which is a feature not offerred by PP yet.

    So, for me, it’s Fireline.

    Now you’ve got both suggestions!

I am not a big fan of private pay-to-hunt ranches and game farms, but where they are legal they should not be confused with what Gentry is accused of doing. If a private property owner wants to fence in his land, gets the necessary permits, and pays to maintain a private game herd he has the right to do so, even though I don’t think shooting a game animal inside a fenced enclosure sounds like much fun.

Vike Fan – It’s not really a penned hunt operation. What was happening here is the state and federal wildlife authorities required a different fence for this bear – more than $30 G – so they decided to get rid of the bear instead. Gentry bought the bear, and since it was his bear, he thought instead of just executing it, he’d shoot with archery equipment. It was his bear, not a wild animal, he could do what he wanted with it.

I’m hearing a little different than what was reported, but like it has been said earlier, there is always a couple sides to the story.

Doesn’t sound like Cubby was ever tagged, Gentry bought the bear, and since it was big, he wanted to weight it. The big game station was weighing bears at the time so….

Gentry did shoot a bear in the wild with his bow, and tagged that bear – but not this one.

The film was edited to shorten it – nothing was done to the film to try to make it something it was not. The film was for Gentry’s own personal use, no commercial use ever intended or realized.

The only thing illegal seems to be the tagging – which (most likely) never happened…

But like has been said – the story is different on different sides.
