It’s a little early for heavy drinking, dontcha think?

My advice is to trim off the fat cap and any large chunks of exterior fat. There is enough intra-muscular fat to keep it moist and all the exterior fat does is block the rub and smoke from penetrating the meat and consumes fuel.
Also, the natural charcoal burns hotter and faster. Take that into account if you use it.

Nokomis is open, and the AIS inspector was sitting out there this morning at 8:30
A little more about my experience with Marcum.
My LX3 stopped working properly about 5 or 6 years ago, but I ended up picking up an LX5 cheap when Gander was closing metro stores. I always meant to bring the LX3 in to get it checked out and upgraded, but never got around to it.
Finally, I brought it in about a month ago.
I was told if it was fixable, it was going to be a flat $80 fee. If it wasn’t fixable, they would sell me a brand new LX3TC head for $150.
After driving away, I started to think I should have just gone for the $150 upgrade and called it good.
2 days later, I picked up my repaired LX3. For $80, I got the unit fixed, and they also stuck in a new battery and a new soft case.
I’m pretty happy with Marcum and how they treated me. And now I’ve got a spare/loaner unit again.

I dont know. Last I heard they still did it.
Nope, not anymore.
I brought in an original LX3 for repair about a month ago, and asked if it could be updated to TC. He said the upgrade parts were no longer available.
There were able to get my LX3 working again, though.

I’d say do it.
The guys at Motor Clinic advised me not to, saying you get a better sonar signal using the manufacturer’s transducer, but after breaking 2 transducer cables in the last 2 years, I wish I hadn’t listened to them.
I’m running a Terrova and I really baby it now when I’m deploying or lifting the motor.

Only 1 guy went in, and he died. It’s sad, but he drove right past the signs into open water! In daylight!
UPDATED (4 p.m., Feb. 16, 2013): A 22-year-old man died today after his snowmobile went through the ice on the St. Croix River in Bayport.
The man, who law enforcement has not yet identified, was unconscious when first responders arrived. He was transported by ambulance to Regions Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiners Office and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office are conducting the investigation. No additional information is available at this time.

UPDATE (1:42 p.m., Feb. 16, 2013): According to Washington County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Daniel Starry, just one snowmobiler — not two as originally reported — went through the ice.
Starry said a witness called in the report at 11:54 a.m., and multiple agencies, including the Washington County Dive Team, reported to the scene. One unconscious man was pulled from the water and taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
It appears the snowmobiler rode through open water about 75 yards off the shore, near Point Road in Bayport, Starry said.
“It’s always open water there, and there are signs all over,” Starry told the Pioneer Press. “I mean, he went right past the signs.”
The incident remains under investigation.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Stillwater, Oak Park Heights and Bayport police departments, the Washington County Dive Team and Bayport Fire Department responded to the scene.
First responders got the air boat to the scene pretty quick, Starry said.
“Everyone should heed the warning signs be careful out on the ice, especially on the St. Croix River, but also on all the lakes in the county,” Starry said.
Buy a cheap laser thermometer, crank up the heat and start scanning the ceiling.

PS I’m proud of myself, I didn’t even suggest a Marcum would last longer.
Maybe because Marcum doesn’t make a micro camera.

I hope the new FM station that the Twins are on has more power then KSTP. Their signal becomes almost non-existent after the sun goes down and I am only 50 miles away.
What’s always amazed me is how poor the reception is on the lower St Croix. You’d think that you would have perfect reception there considering who owns the biggest boat on the river!

Too funny!
Looks like they took my last years reported issues to heart.
(sun shade)Doesn’t look like they did anything for the snow storm effect in low light/deep water levels though.
Wasn’t the snow storm problem because you couldn’t turn the lights off? Looks like they added on/off for the lights this year.

Anyone use the Lindy ice line that came out last year?
I got some 3# free but never tried it. I just put it on my Eagle Claw multiplier but haven’t tried it out yet.
Otherwise, I’m a P-line fan as well. 3# for panfish, 5# for walleye.

Was rotor rooter or Ron’s the one that got nailed?
Edit, I see Ron is no longer with Ron’s, Ingy would you still reccomend them?
Al
Ron’s son Lee took over the business, and he is very good. No, they are not one of the sleazy ones!
Ingy
Avoid Roto-rooter like the plague!
I can highly recommend Ron the Sewer Rat! 612-724-8253
Small local business, great guys, very professional and they work clean.

I’ve had my 2010 since February and have been very happy with it.
It pulls my 16.5 alumacraft with a 50 no problem.
I do try to give myself plenty of braking time, just to be safe.
I’d like better gas mileage, but I knew that going in.
Ingy
I would send an email to Strikemaster asking them what’s the proper procedure to follow.
Then if there are any problems, you have documentation for any possible warranty claims.

When I got my Terrova I skipped the US2 based on the advice of the guys at Motor Clinic in Bloomington-they said you get a better quality signal/return using the factory transducer(HB 788ci, no DI/SI).
Now after having to replace 2 transducers after breaking off the wires, I wish I didn’t listen to them.
Ingy
Another good choice would be an Alumacraft Lunker 16.
A good boat that should be a few bucks cheaper than a Lund so he can buy gas and baits.
Ingy
Why was he in the water unconscious for 10 minutes when the other boat was right there???

Yes you can fix the pedal, it is a circut that is burned out. Take it to any Minnkota repai shop and they will fix it.
Sure you can fix the old pedal for $75, or buy a whole new pedal for $60. At least that’s what it was a couple of years ago at Motor Clinic in Bloomington.
Hmmm, A mandatory course on AIS but drunken idiots are still allowed to drive their tuna boats without having to show any competence or knowledge of boating rules and regulations?
Genius!

It’s called the “JUDGE”. On sale at Cabela’s.
You threaten them with a fish ruler??
Chili is good on the ice. Bring plastic bowls and spoons, some shredded cheese and Fritos. Throw the bowls and spoons in a garbage bag when you’re done!

Is everyone just using the P-line Floroice or is their a different p-line of choice for ice fishing?
Floroclear and Floroice are the same line-you just pay more for Floroice.

I agree! I write the model on the buttcap, but I don’t understand why they don’t mark their stock rods.
