Does the field staff position pay very well?

The other stuff sounds good but skip the Cuban cigar if you are an American citizen.
The firmware update fixes the communication problems between the unit(s) and the puck.
Another hint to anyone wiring up a NEMA network: Follow those instructions carefully and only connect power to the NEMA network at ONE location. Do not connect power to the NEMA power lines more than once. You will not be able to communicate with your antenna and possibly cause other problems.
You should update the software to the latest available version. I had the same problem until I updated the firmware on the unit.
If you don’t know how to update the firmware, just go to the lowrance website and navigate to the updates pages. Click on the link for the 480 update and following the instructions.
The error you are discussing is called Selective Availability. Selective availability is not used today. Any errors in a GPS are from poor satalite readings. GPSs are general much more accurate than 10 yards. They do have the ability to re-establish the selective availability errors if they deem it necessary.
Quote:
The GPS includes a feature called Selective Availability (SA) that introduces intentional, slowly changing random errors of up to a hundred meters (328 ft) into the publicly available navigation signals to confound, for example, guiding long range missiles to precise targets.
Quote:
SA was eventually “discontinued”; the amount of error added was “set to zero”[13] at midnight on May 1, 2000 following an announcement by U.S. President Bill Clinton, allowing users access to the error-free L1 signal

You can terminate loose ends but every connector must be either terminated or connected to equipment. Why do you have the NMEA network with only one unit? Do you plan to connect other devices – temp, fuel management, etc?
The updates have some drawbacks also.
1. Remember to write down all your settings. They will be lost after the update. For example, your sensitivity and colorline values. You will also have to reset your update criteria for your gps.
2. After the installation, the units no longer retain their last configuration. For example, I like to have the split map/graph page but after every power down the page reverts to full map.
3. Both unit must be on in order to share waypoints. Waypoints cannot be “synchronized” after the units power up.
4. Icons and trails are not shared.
5. The sonar does not perform as well with the new updates. There are “hick-ups” that cause delays in updates to the graph which sometimes are several seconds long.
I like the direction that Lowrance is heading. They could do so much more than they have. I think they need to get more fisherman VOC and they could have a product that blows away the competition.
I fished Tonka recently. The fish are feeding like nuts. They are absolutely gorging themselves on bluegills and crawdads. The fish’s guts look like they are ready to spawn. I hooked a bass in the tongue so I kept it in the livewell with some rejuvenade for a while. Later when I went to release it I found 4 sunnies and a crawdad in the livewell.
Like Rootski and others noted, the bass are pissed off at the topwater baits. I found that I wanted to keep ’em moving to get that explosive blowup. The hits are the kind that make you giggle…
You can if the temperature sensor is a NMEA sensor.
If the temperature sensor is on the network then it will be available in the overlay data under NMEA devices.
I forget how much I paid for my NMEA temp sensor, I think it was around $60.
If you ask nicely, you can get a used shipping tube from the local retailers also…
Steve, I would have to believe you if you said you caught that many Bass on Tonka, but I only count 277 birds there…
Steve,
Can you please let someone else win the tonka classic this year?
You guys are phenoms in early tonka tournaments.
Mike,
Do you know how many boats fished? 22# to cash – thats tough unless the stable(r) weather has ’em snapping a little better.
Gobbler,
It was very tough this weekend, a couple over three is pretty good. The big fish are not deep, they are not out on the rock bars or even the outside weedline, but they are in the weeds. The best way to get a big fish right now is to poke around the thicker milfoil with a Texas-rigged worm. You won’t get many bites and you need to really shake the bait in one spot for a long time.
Things are going to be changing soon though…
I am very interested in hearing the weights from today’s tournament. I think the weights will be low today.
That was just a joke. I am fishing it though and I hope to finish in the top half this year.
I haven’t been on Tonka yet this year but I have heard that most bass are done spawning there.
I’m in too. I have a strong pattern going right now but I don’t know if it will hold up for the tourny…
Straightening an offset boat is equally hard on rollers or a bunk. Bunk trailers make launching and loading far easier and quicker than rollers, especially by yourself.
Just a perspective from a bass guy who likes to see people get in and out of the launch quickly…
Absolutely use the Motor Clinic. I had an issue with a dead spot in my windings and these guys promptly took care of the problem. They have great service. They are located in the business complex southwest of Old Shakopee and Hampshire Ave S.
Here is their number (952) 881-0898
Anything connected to the NMEA backbone shows up under the NMEA devices. Look for the temperature probe there.
What tournament did Curt win 60,000 in? His career earnings for BASS is 5,500. I see where he dq’d himself when he discovered himself when he got to the weigh-in. But he was done at that point because other contestants would have witnessed him releasing fish but still having a full limit at the scales. Do you think he would have dq’d himself if he saw that before leaving the wingdam?
Its kind of funny. I used Fireline for a long time, then I fished with a boater who swore by Power Pro. I bought a spool and I liked it. I committed to it on all my reels but then my 20 pound test was snapping like mad. I switched back to Fireline and I again don’t have any issues.
I suppose there are bad batches in all products.
Have you checked your guides? Use a q-tip and cirle each eye and see if any material snags. Also, have you checked the hook/jig eye to make sure there isn’t any manufacturing flaws there?
Otherwise you could probably send the line into Berkley. I suspect they would take care of you…
I either read or heard that Joe Bucher lost a giant fish because the snap on a very heavy duty leader opened. He now only uses split rings. So lure action might not be the only good reason to cut the snap swivel off…
