All you guys up at the dam and not one of you said HI!

That’s right, I forgot to wear my fushia Everts hat!

We were the little Lund that only caught on 5 inch…er 5 foot fish.

    BK,
I think I saw that 5 footer come in. You guys definitely had your hands full in that little Lund. I thought you were gonna tip a couple times!!
I guess I am assuming you were the ones who caught that 45-50 lb. Sturgeon early Saturday afternoon. We were heading back to Everts for some lunch and saw it get wrestled over the side of the boat……after a few attempts

Spent the Weekend rechecking everything on the boat and charging batteries. I also had a few new Husky Jerks follow me home and will tie a couple more spinners this week too. This work week can’t get over fast enough

Mixed feelings on the slot here. What do we want when we go to Spirit Lake? I feel eater fish have been and still will be easy enough to get. My own, UNEDUCATED opinion, would be to set the high end of the slot up to 25-27″ if we really want to protect the bigger fish. Personally I don’t want anything over 20″ unless it will win a tourney or set a state record. I will however, eat a 13″ fish if its legal. As I said above its my own uneducated standard for the new slot this year.

I got out on the south end of Big Spirit on 1/1/07. I walked out to 13 FOW and was still on 5″ of ice. I don’t know anything about the rest of the lake but there was a portable about 3/4 mile to the west of me.
Trumbull was getting rotten but still folks out on it.

I went to the Iowa Lake area and found some good ice on South Silver(8 inches). No fish but I was able to get out. I also went to Trumble Lake near Ruthven,Iowa and found 5 inches of good ice plus some hungry perch there. I know these areas are not close to Clear Lake but wanted to post up. Christmas is coming and I bet there will be new ice toys that need to be tested
    Good luck

Thanks for the info folks. Just a little follow up report.
We fished near Lansing most of the day Saturday. We casted cranks, jigs/plastic combos and some willow cats at a few wing dams. We went down to that power plant and also tried some jigs. Even pulled a little lead core just for a try but the weeds were a bit much for that.
We ended up at the dam Saturday night and Sunday morning fishing with the pack by the float. Picked up one fish on a Munchie ringworm in 16′ and had another good hit that I lost. Would like to get back out before hardwater but who knows.

Does anyone know if the place in Waukon has willow cats? Sorry for all the questions, I’m trying spend more time on the water than hunting for bait. Thanks again in advance.
I will stop in at JT’s if I get the chance for sure.
