I missed seeing the original message. If it was deleted due to pics revealing a location can you at least give a recap of the catch and presentations used? I am not going to drive up there and starting fishing the spot. Just like hearing what is working for people to try to apply in my own area. Thanks for sharing.

A national fishing show with a large audience I think should be careful in the type of information they give out. Now when they are on a well known, highly fished, big water body like say Lake of the Woods, Lake Fork, or Lake Cumberland saying the name of the lake isn’t going to do much except maybe give a local lodge or business an extra bump in business which is normally an intended result anyway. With smaller bodies of water, especially if they are located near a major population center I would prefer the show protect it from getting over run.
As far as fishing pictures and posts on the net I spend a lot more time looking at them to identify people that are likely to have knowledge I can learn from than I do trying to figure out what spot they are fishing.

July 23, 2013 at 4:33 pm #1185106Welcome to IDO. I am also not located in the Omaha area so don’t have any personal experience I can share with you. Here is some links to some resources NE G&P has put out that might help you as far as best locations for targeting your species of choice.

As far as tactics go I think it is important to consider that nearly all of your bodies of water with quality fish there in the Omaha area are going to receive considerable pressure. I would do my best to try to fish during peak feeding times around sunrise and sunset as often as I could and I would fish the areas that pressured fish are likely to try and retreat to and some anglers may be hesitant to fish, thick cover, heavy weedllines, ect. Hopefully there is another member more familiar with the Omaha area that could chime in but good luck to you.

May 22, 2013 at 6:56 pm #1172801Outstanding! Glad to hear you had success. Thanks for reporting back.
May 16, 2013 at 12:58 pm #1171290Thanks everyone for the imput. I had seen most of these guides websites, but most don’t list rates or anything more than 3-4 anglers. Will contact the ones recommended directly. Thanks all.
May 15, 2013 at 6:44 pm #1171098Good luck Joe.
We would all appreciate a quick report back on how you did.
May 13, 2013 at 1:00 pm #1170431Nice fish Brian. I was doing some volunteering last week and was only able to get out on Friday night. I went over to LE Ray in Grand Island with a guy attempting to try and target the muskie they have in there. While I didn’t catch one myself I was able to be the net man for the 29″ one we put in the boat.
May 13, 2013 at 12:52 pm #1170425I fish a lot of the local sandpits in the Kearney area and I have had very limited success so far this year. Cold water presentations have always been a challenge for me though as I have to really stay focused on going slower and being more finnessed. All you can do is choose to accept the challenge and work for them or stay home. I would really be out fishing even if I’m not catching anything.
April 12, 2013 at 12:48 pm #1161957The day will come when I can actually catch one of those beasts.
April 10, 2013 at 3:07 am #1161036I will make a shameless plug for my employer and say that is a Cabela’s Go-To Hoochie Koochie in its mouth. It’s a great swimbait that I have caught my personal best wiper and now pike on.
Hats off to Brian for letting me and my oldest ride along with him. He found us quite a few fish on a day when we had to work for every one.
March 18, 2013 at 12:58 pm #1153232Nice pics Brian.
Good to see those Moxis getting some results!
I had planned on better weather over the weekend based on earlier forecasts and then when the forecast for Saturday and Sunday started to change I was wishing that there was anyway I could skip out on work Thursday or Friday. It just wasn’t possible though.
It was cold and slow for me on Saturday, but I hooked into a few. Will be watching the forecast now for anothoer warm day to get out. I have been buying new lures and soft plastics all winter. These things got to get tested.
March 11, 2013 at 8:15 pm #1150942I made it out before the rain came down on Saturday and caught a couple small ones. The warmer weather is on the way. Bring it on!
February 21, 2013 at 2:12 pm #1144299I made it out on Saturday, but wasn’t able to catch anything. Should have got out early Sunday morning when I had the chance. Likely won’t make it out for another couple weeks. I am currently fishless for 2013 and I am itching to break that.
February 11, 2013 at 6:10 pm #1140484Nice looking smallie! Thanks for sharing. I am anxious to get ‘catching’ again.
