Please stop posting about how much you hate the Toyota truck.

Wade can give you his customer’s opinions, but here is mine:

    Absolute Crap.

I would rather not have any map than to deal with this software.

This software/hardware combo is so bad, I get angry thinking of how bad this was designed and the fact it was actually released says somone at Navionics should have been fired.

I have a 2004 alumacraft magnum 165cs with 90 etec. 2nd hole mount and 13.8 x 17 ballistic 3 blade prop, full load with full 22 gallons gas, gear, livewell empty, 2 guys at 230 and 250lbs each, 5 ac delco group 27 batteries, 9.9 merc kicker and 101 minn kota up front.

I get 38.8mph gps at WOT at 5200 RPMs. 35mph seems a bit slow.

I do remember reading that the alumacraft factory can hammer down the lip on the pad to fix the plowing issues (and the opposite on porposing issues)

What are your rpms at WOT?

Note that MOR channel is just starting out and have some utter morons hosting shows.

Children in deerstands with no safety harnesses on, neck shots, etc.

I didn’t know so many bad camo patterns existed though!

You can wear you waders bring the tundra to the track and I will get a gm and ford product that has the same cubic inch and weight for the truck and we will see what out pulls the toyota and I will guarntee the GM and ford will both out pull the toyota. Everything looks great on paper but if you want the true power you have to put it in a neutral enviroment not put on by either company.

So to be clear on this, your F250 can tow 80,000 lbs and/or 40+ tons down the highway?

Happen to be a member of costco?

    42″ No Name 1080p LCD $1299

True 1080p resolution = one kickass computer monitor at 1920 x 1080 resolution

The 37inch version I use as a monitor.

Before anyone turns this into a brand name flamefest – I will offer you this:

In 5 years from now when 80inch lcds are $200, if you were to bring this into your local store in original box with receipt from purchase online? = They will refund you for the full purchase price.

This is known throughout the internet that costco’s return policy is subject to abuse.

Unforunately I think I got my answer from the evinrude site where the 2007 etec brochure is available for download.

No mention of smaller HP motors

Maybe buy a 40hp etec and change the stickers?

Anyhoo, thanks to everyone for the replies.

I didn’t mean I was looking for a small hp verado, though a 25hp supercharged 4 stroke would be quite interesting.

I just meant that usually Merc, Evinrude come out with stuff at the major florida boat shows which usually is in the beginning of the year.

I would hate to plunk down $3000 on a 4 stroke when I really wanted an etec.

    I have a 2004 alumacraft magnum 165 cs with a 2005 90hp etc.

It goes exactly 41.1 mph in 53 degree temp water running at 5200 rpms with a michigan ballistic ss 3 blade prop 13 7/8 x 17.

Average speed is around 38.8 with full load, 2 230lb guys, full tank gas, full livewell and I have 3 group 29 batteries for a minn kota trolling motor up front of the dash 2 optimas in back for electronics/starting motor.

I am guessing my setup is heavier than yours and my bow lift is extreme. 1/2 trim (on the guage) is wot throttle, trim up on the motor up from that and the bow wants to porpoise.

From the stock 14 x 17 x 3 aluminum prop to SS, I got exactly 3mph more top end. Holeshot on either prop was instant (you actually feel your back press against the seat).

I have 4 extra props, all of which are 19 pitch and above and in each case performance suffered quite a bit.

Hydrofoil will not help, only with holeshot as the hydrofoil runs out of the water at wot.

Are you running SS (stainless steel?)

I had the same problem, figuring on the fact that alumacraft didn’t change front pedestals mounts you have a:

9″ round base springfield plug-in pedestal (but no 3/4″ pin hole in the middle (solid))

I wound up replacing with a:

    9″ round Springfield Taper-Lock base $17

    Added a:

    Springfield Taper-Lock™ Adapter $17

And I now have a 3/4″ pin base that is rock solid, and the holes line up perfectly (no re-drilling or worrying about what carpet is underneath the original base).

I installed this versus just a Springfield Pro Seat as I like to use a Swivl-Eze® Offset Pin Post as I sit alot when using the trolling motor. I have noticed Alumacraft’s are not designed it seems for the foot type control trolling motors (power drive is fine) as there seems to be little room for the foot control and cable when sitting down in a seat.

The Springfield Pro Seat is the one that accepts any 3/4″ pin butt seat (the most common). There is also this one: Control Post Seat which is a little more pricey but has the same pedestal.

Hope this gives you a few options.

NOTE – all images stolen from cabelas and bps. I don’t think they mind considering how much I spend in a year with them!

Thanks lip ripper, I actually wound up keeping it as I paid cheaper for the pro kicker than a normal 9.9 price.

As this was for my boss who doesn’t care for speed, I think I am just going to swap out the prop. The fact he is only going to use the boat probably (and a shame too) less than a 4 times a year I don’t think he will notice he not going 25mph.

Dave – I am one of the very few that has the Navplanner and I must say if you are looking for it sometime this year, look elsewhere.

Wade this software didn’t need serious tweaking, it needed a total re-write.

Navplanner is just a cheesy version of pcplotter which was horrid to begin with.

Hopefully when they come out with a new version everything will be better, but for now if you want to see what you are getting try pcplotter demo and prepare to be frustrated!

Update – the chip from wade arrived super fast as usual and the new chip worked just fine with the navplanner.

As for the software – I would highly recommend anyone wanting to buy this to try it out first. It is not very user friendly.

    Edit:

After trying this since the last time I made this post I will say this instead – Navplanner software is absolutely horrid. But keep this in mind – if you want to do anything with your Navionics chip you will have to buy Navplanner as the reader that comes with it is the only one that will work with Navionics chips.

Hey Wade, I talked to the woman at Navionics and while the software installs fine, the reader installs fine, whenever I put my card in the reader it asks me to format it – well I know that is not a good thing.

She was going to call me back but that didn’t happen.

As for the new order of the ’06 card, order away! Instead of getting the $75 rebate for sending in the card, I am just going to give it to my neighbor who is picking up his new boat next year and he is not exactly computer efficient! (or depth finders for that matter too.) New lakes on the chip are a good thing too.

As for the software – it is a scaled down version of pcplotter with less features. From the menus in the help to the other features, this software looks like it was released very eary.

    BTW: Wade delivers VERY FAST!

As for my problem – Navionics was of little help, the navplanner will not read my 05 Premium Hotmaps East card though the reader will read my camera’s SD card. So the card reader is not the problem.

So instead of dealing with why it won’t work… ordered new ’06 card from wade just now!

I understand the concept of Pro Mariner’s on demand concept but if 2 batteries hooked up to a 3 bank charger are full, wouldn’t 30 amps going to the 4rd discharged battery guarantee that the battery will not last as long? A slow trickle charge is best, but 30 amps to one battery?

One thing I will mention – I do have like 5 different SS props (playing with pitch/diameter) for my motor, but I did not pay over $100 for any of them. I wouldn’t run SS if you fishing in areas known to take out lower ends and/or props consistently though.

The comprops people talk about are actually pretty nice but will just about destroy themselves with any prop strike.

Slack I run about the same as you but etec 90hp and alumacraft magnum 165cs. You will see better holeshot (your holeshot should be instant now anyhoo) and about 3-4mph extra top end. You can switch to a higher pitch and holeshot will stay the same.

I didn’t crawl around in a lund as I didn’t see why they were 3k more than the alumacraft.

One thing I did find out though – on the boat I have, (04 alumacraft magnum 165CS) the front casting deck base seat plate seems way too close to the front on the deck.

It was impossible for me to use a minn kota maxxum cable steer foot control trolling motor with the seat in as the foot control was actually underneath the seat as the pedal wouldn’t fit any futher up front.

Standing up with a leaning post was not a problem but sitting, well, just couldnt be done. I am 5’11” for reference.

I had to get a new base plate, post adapter, post, and seat mount to offset the difference. Base plate and post adapter worked in conjuction as they do not make a 9′ round kingpin style base plate so you didn’t have to drill new holes and cover up old ones. Post shown below.

This isn’t an issue if you use a powerdrive but just a heads up for something to look into.

Ok it’s very simple – sign up for a sniping service. auctionsniper.com is one of them. They charge 1% of the final value.

Just read this: Why you snipe Don’t forget to read the disclaimer at the bottom of the risks involved.

No I don’t work for auctionsniper, I just happen to use them (for the meager things I buy there), but you will get the jist of things by reading that. You can use any sniping service but the above explains why sniping is the only way to go.

And just in case you want to know credentials – I sell on eBay at the tune of $80,000+ a month

Actually that is the problem, they say it’s programmed for XD100 only but I am seeing blue or XD50 in the tank.

Anyone have XD100 that is not light brown?

Are the etec 150’s or 175’s available yet? Color seems to be only blue and white too?

Just some things to consider – I own an e-tec but i have a whole 10 mins on my motor so have no opinion on them yet, other than they are WAY tiny. 90hp etec = the size of my ole 94′ 60hp johnson.

Working too much? I have got ya beat! I paid in FULL for a 2004 Alumacraft Magnum 165CS with 90hp Etec in February – I have yet to pick it up!

    Maybe sometime in August!

Good news is dealer is not charging me for storage I guess.

As I look under the console now, I don’t know what is underneath there, but as I see you do not have a million guages – think it would be possible to make your own console that only goes down to the top of the deck with the bottom half of the console being part of the extension/storage area?

Could even make the part that sits under the console dry storage.
