I use a lot of prizm tape on my lures. Lots of colors available. Just cut it to size and stick it on. It’s waterproof. Check at Jann’s Netcraft for it. RH
March 24, 2014 at 12:30 pm #1398855We used drift socks on Lake Erie all the time. Some drifts would be close to a mile across a school of walleyes. My drift sock has a sack full of lead that is sewn on the bottom and when you threw the thing in you made sure the sack was on the bottom and it would open right up. I had cleat mounted in about the middle of the boat and tied sock unto it and it drifted nice and perpendicular so you could fish 3 guys out of the same side also had a 5 gallon bucket to put it in when you brought it in otherwise water would be all over inside. March 24, 2014 at 12:13 pm #1398848Mike I’ve had 2 of them. Both were successful and got rid of what I thought was the worse pain one could imagine. The 2nd one I knew from the start it was going to be surgery from my 1st experience. A neuologist did the second one and only made about 2-3″ cut. The 1st one in like 1978 was a 10″ cut. The 2-3″ one was way better and I got over it much quicker. It’s not as bad as it sounds, don’t be scared. RH
March 20, 2014 at 5:56 am #1397708OK fisher, I will post how this plate works for me. We have so much ice I don’t know when I will get in the water. I also hope to get down to .5 mph or less. I would think with a 40hp it would really slow ya down. RH
March 20, 2014 at 5:48 am #1397706Aluma, That’s what I wanted to hear about this plate. I took it to my Honda dealer and he said it looked good to him and didn’t think it would cause any issues. So now I will mount it and give it a try. Thanks to all who replyed. RH
March 17, 2014 at 10:07 am #1396781The troll n go plate automatically snaps up when you crank up the throttle so you don’t need to worry about raising it.RH
March 17, 2014 at 10:04 am #1396779Dave,You must have the bags close to the bow on a short rope so they are out of the way when you are trying to land a fish? Where did you get the bags? I thought they would be a pain taking in and out? RH
February 24, 2014 at 6:35 am #1391104The Elite 7 with navionics map chip does not show borders. For instance LOW US/Canada border or Detroit River US/Canada border should show up clearly with a solid red line but does not on Elite 7. Other than that I like the unit. RH
January 14, 2014 at 1:27 pm #1379796When using tungsten lures on the package they come in they recommend a loop knot for best action and it works well for me. But some lures in order to hold them in a horizontal position you need to use a tight knot to keep it in place so you need to be flexable. RH
November 21, 2013 at 2:06 pm #1365570Talking about minnows, I just watched the Capt. Norm Isaacs fishing show and one of his crew took a live minnow out of the bait well and chewed it up and swallowed it.Yuk RH
August 7, 2013 at 12:25 pm #1188228We were there last Tues/Weds and did a lot of trolling in the lake and in the river below Pepin. It was slow for us and never did put a patern together. The water was clear enough so don’t know why we did’nt do better. We caught some nice crappie and bluegill and tons of drum casting the shore line above Lucopolis and up where the creeks flow in on that side.
April 5, 2013 at 6:45 pm #1159806I did that update and it did fix some things on Navionics but unfortunately not the border issues. I plugged that same map chip into my old LMS 334 and the borders show up just fine.
April 4, 2013 at 11:29 am #1159227I have my Elite 7 setting on my bench running off a 12v battery charger and had it power off on me on the bench for no reason.
April 1, 2013 at 11:29 am #1158021Out_Fishing, it will be awhile before I get to use it. It’s going on a new boat that is on order and who knows when I will get it this time of year. I had It hooked up on the bench and it will be a big improvement over my LMS 334. RH
March 31, 2013 at 11:37 am #1157762Daa! Thanks aleb you made my day. You can teach an old dog new tricks!
December 5, 2012 at 1:14 pm #1117544I have had a Stikemaster elec for a few years and so does several of my buds and we all love ours.
November 26, 2012 at 2:13 pm #1114913I also started refilling but I can only refill them half way. I weighed the refilled tanks and the most I could get in was 9oz in any of them. I warmed the 20lb tank to room temperature and froze the 1 lb overnite in the freezer before refilling. Someone said that was the best way to do it. Anyway I know it’s cheaper but now I will have take more 1lb tanks to make sure I have enough RH
December 14, 2011 at 6:04 pm #1017689This happened to me Sat. morning on my first ice fishing trip. The transducer was cradled in the holder since I last used it last March. It took everything I had sitting in my tent to pry it loose. And it had to be peeled out of there and had a layer of foam covering half of the face of the tranducer. Thank goodness it still worked. I used carburator cleaner on it by spraying it on a rag first and them rubbing it and got it all off with effort. RH
October 17, 2011 at 7:36 pm #1002030We had 2 game wardens on a pond last winter and they both had some really nice strap on cleats.I asked them where they got them and they said they were state issued. They said they needed good ones so when guys tried to run away they could catch them. I made that up. But I know one of the guys and could ask him if you want. RH
December 5, 2009 at 6:23 pm #820715One thing about the Wild with the bench seat we found out is if you set on the end where the front of the sled is you can tip the whole thing over because of the sweep of the sled under the nose. Problem would be if two guys were on the seat and the one away from the nose got up the other guy better be ready.
April 6, 2009 at 12:28 pm #766038I agree with the little Desoto landing. It’s perfect especially with the higher water. I was in there last Friday and trolled most of the day. The debris in the water made it very difficult to troll but managed a 16 and a 19″ and talked to a guy pre-fishing for the WAT and he had a 20,21 and 22″ trolling. Normally this time of year you could get these fish on one pass instead of all day. The water temp Fri was 39-40 degrees. RH
December 10, 2008 at 8:02 pm #727652I make my own and have for years out of the spring out of the Bic lighters. You can stretch them way out for more sensitivity and install them with heat shrink tubing. I fish in a tent 95% of the time. I have 2 of the C J & Spins ones but haven’t tried them yet. RH
December 10, 2008 at 7:27 pm #727641Thanks for your discussion on the cable and I’ve re-added the pics and hope they work this time. RH
December 10, 2008 at 12:38 pm #727529247, It is kind of a pain, it caused the float to hang up a little so it didn’t quite slide up and down right. If I knew for sure the transducer wire would be ok to use without the support cable I would ditch it.
December 9, 2008 at 8:54 pm #727383I’m sorry my pics didn’t work. It’s my 1st time any suggestions?
December 6, 2008 at 5:53 pm #726650I drove around this morning and looked at Brinker lake and Big Woods, Wloo/CF they still have quite a bit of open water. I’m going to Casey Lake Mon. morning looking to fish for sure. RH
December 6, 2008 at 5:46 pm #726636I fished Green Thurs(12-5). About 30 guys there. For me it was slow and I think most everyone else. I thought the water was mirky for Green as I could only see my lure for about 18″ and it would disappear. I always sight fish there but Thurs never seen a fish down the hole. RH
December 3, 2008 at 8:13 pm #725859I will be picking up my 45 on Friday at Cabelas. I got an $85 coupon on $400 purchase in the mail along with my points will make it worth the trip. Will post how I like it later. RH
