The 9.5 and the 15 are the same motor the carb is the only difference. Check the serial number ona a small coin like spot on the engine block and go to the johnson web site to find out how old it is. Check it for color to be sure it wasnt overheated and try starting it. Put it in water for 15 minutes before you try starting it if it hasnt been run in a while. I bought a 15 horse Johnson that was bought new then set for over 20 years without being used. The electric pack was shorted out replasced that and it has worked like a trouper ever since. I put a lot of stress on it and it holds up great. I researched a web site where the guy knows those motors inside and out I cant think of his last name his first name was Leroy google johnson motor repair he might pop up Hope this helsp 500 isnt bad if it is what you want.

Fished through the weekend with amazing results walleyes sauger catfish and small mouth cant believe what the river holds. Water levels finaly dropping and the big boats are getting hung up aw too bad. Now the lower conditions and the small boats that were meant to fish are there. I cant begin to describe the feeling of a private fishing ground that I share with less than 3 boats. So much [censored] caught a few released all that were caught dont eat the fish they are bad for you.

I bought one last Dec. fished a lot after that. I was very glad I made the purchase fished along side vex 18 and marcum 5 Much easier to see and read less expensive than both. My friends that used it all loved it My battery life was exceptional although I did charge after every use. I fished a long weekend fishing 12 hours a day and it had 75 percent battery left at end of day. I did tweek it a bit and lost the extra cable made centering it the hole easier and that is important that it hangs straight. I worked out a system that had it hanging down the side of the hole and the float was tucked under the unit in the case worked great. Have 1 friend bought one in March and another looking to buy a unit if he gets rid of his vex. Over all I think it is a great value.

Fished Saturday morning water very high and dirty didnt do very good. Did find a sack of mallard decoys bobbing up and down under a tree. If you ever see a sack under a tree in the River I guarentee you open it carefully.

More time fishing less time holding a dieing fish by the gills. Catch and release only works when what we are releasing is alive

I use a live trap as well om;y I hang a weiner by string from the end he comes in has to lift up a bit to get the hot dog and you will have him. Set the trap up close to where he has ben coming in not on the inside incase you get a wayward skunk. If yyou get a skunk the fun begins send me a message an I will explain how to get them out of the trap.

Asked yourself this questuon about littering. Is it ok to throw cigarett buts down on the ice? A shack that has been on the ice for 2 weeks then moved left behind enough butts and cigar stubs but people seem not bothered by this. Littering is littering would like to see some one ticketed for this.

I have red through this several times and have been amazed at the expertly done undressing of a competitors product. From the start to finish some one had there nose out of joint. But it was a Marcum sponsered event and I will continue to read different post on this web site. It really makes one thing clear beware of sponsered events and opinions. Reminded me a lot of High School speech class. Teacher doing the grading had to start somewhere picking you apart. Rob Holman Class of 73 lol

These take a bit of tweeking. You wont be able to get shrink tube over most end guides so you will have to remove the end guide. Next you need to align everything straight hold it straight while you shrink the tube. You need it firm to stay in place so moving the spring for tension wont work if it is too tight. Not tight enough and the fiber optic spins around knotting your line. Lets not get into the tail left on the backside it seems to grab line at every chance. I finally stuck it out 3 inches and superglued it tight. You buy a pack and get 2 for 2 bucks so I do have an extra. If anyone knows a better way to put these on let me know. 1 good point is the loop at the business end is adjustable.
