Bob, can you share any location ideas for a bass guy just learning the lake. If not I understand. I have been fishing the SE end of the lake, not much weed on rock down there. Any help appreciated.

Terry, you have a truly wonderful place to fish in Vermilion. I look forward to the time I get to spend there. It is probably my second favorite place to fish with the Everglades (chasing Tarpon) being the first. I hope you enjoy your time there, I sure do.

We had some really good days on the lake last week. I got my personal best. 54″!!!!! I would love to post the picture but I took the photo with an 8 mp camera. IDA won’t let me attach it.

Dirk, depending on your use, I would tell you to get the cable service and a wireless card and transmitter. The cable service is so much faster it’s crazy. If you’re just checking e-mail you could probably survive with the wireless service. It’s hard to believe there would be no monthly charge for the wireless service. When I looked into it before there was a charge very similar to the cable charge.

If you’re looking to go to Southwest Florida, the Naples/Marco Island Fl area, I have a contact for you. Depending on when in March you are going, you may be able to cast plugs for Tarpon or live bait fish for Tarpon. Snook fishing can get really good that time of year also. It just depends on what you want to do. Redfish are fun, but there is nothing on earth like Tarpon.

Just depends on the time of year and the condition of the fish. The state record Largemouth was 22 inches plus but not 23. I put a 24 incher in the boat a few weeks ago and it was 7lbs 5oz. The fish was not fat, just solid. I have a couple of smallies in the 22’s and they haven’t even hit 7lbs. I wouldn’t care about the record, let the fish go.

I was on Mille Lacs last week and the number of 18-20inch fish you catch there is amazing. I talked with a guide there and he said that his crew has put two smallies in the boat over 8lbs. They catch them walleye fishing in the spring. Both fish were caught before the bass season was open so back in the water they go.

24 inches at least. If you catch one that big Release it. Fish are like people. Not every fish can grow to the trophy size, just like not every human grows to Shaq size. Let them all go folks.

She was released. Nice fish. Biggest bass I’ve ever seen in MN.
