Since posting, I found an older thread from someone that contacted Strikemaster about this. At that time they were told it would void the warranty if a chipper was used since it wasn’t tested with one. So I guess stick with gas or look at the Jiffy electric or K-drill.

How easy is the screen to see out in the sunlight on these? I’d like to pick up a recon or aqua-vu that I can also use in the summer to look around on structure, but afraid I won’t be able to see anything.

I have a otter cabin thermal and am considering a new Ford with the 5.5 box. Going by this post, it will fit length wise. I was wondering if it will also fit under a access rollup cover?

Wow, great reports guys. So having never really fished the river through the ice, what areas do people look for? Do you go up in the creeks, fish around the mouths, or just points along the main channel? I may have to make a trip this year to experience it.

I’ve stayed at the Holiday Inn Express – Polaris Parkway for work before. Very close to Cabela’s and a real new hotel.

I haven’t put the wind poles in for fear of seams splitting wide open. To me it seems like it’s the seams are what’s holding it back and I can’t see them stretching. I’ve been using it since November and nothing has changed. Just gets frustrating. And it feels like Otter is stringing me along until the winter is over and the warranty is up…

Brining this topic back to the top. So has anyone’s canvas actually “stretched” out and fit better? My 1200 Cabin is still horrible. I literally have to stand in my sled and push with everything to get my poles to lock in. It’s rediculous and Otter makes it sound like I’m the first one with this issue. Weekends like this past with cold temps just compounds the problem. Attached is a picture for yesterday after the shack had been set up and heater running for several hours. The skirt barely touches the ice!

Your local farm supply store will have them. Bag of them for a few bucks.

I didn’t use them as I’ve never had an issue with the trim lock coming off on my previous shacks. The less holes the better for me.

UPOW, that was their solution for me also – send shorter poles. I didn’t realize the canvas would stretch as much as James is saying, so I put the regular poles back in for now. It got quite a few hours of ice time this weekend, but I haven’t noticed much difference yet. Hopefully the canvas stretches out before the seams blow )

I seen this posted on a online retailer’s facebook page a couple weeks ago. Has anyone else heard this?

“Just heard from a bird that Rapala, who owns Mora and Strikemaster have pulled all production of Mora augers out of Sweden and moved it to Finland. Expect significantly higher prices there. Also, Rapala pulled all of it’s manufacturing of Strikemaster out of China and moved the machinery to Finland as well. Expect higher prices there as well.”
