I’ve never heard of a Phelps floater … is that a floating jighead on the back of a lindy rig? Or is it some type of crank?

I’m planning to get out there tomorrow AM. If anyone else that checks out this forum and are also there, stop by and introduce yourself. I’d be happy to compare notes. I’ll be mobile and with a buddy. Black snow pants and black jacket. Too much gear.

I’m not sure if I could ever go through that much trouble to measure ice thickness. Sounds like way to much extra work.

Saw way too many vehicles out on the ice yesterday. Full size trucks parked next to each other etc. Stupid from my vantage but I didn’t see any problems either. So those people probably feel different than I.

Basically the fish are still sniffin’.
