Guys have been crawling around Wilcox this week. There have been reports of 2.5 to 3 inches of good ice, and ice thickness has been increasing each day. A few anglers have been checking out the finger lakes area too. I know a guy who got some 1/2 pounders down there yesterday. But I’m still trying to beat it out of him exactly where he did the catching!

Jim – Send me a PM and I will share my secret formula for determining the most productive color, and time of day to use it. See ya on the water big fella!

April 12, 2002 at 4:25 am #240940The Bay City area can be good at times in the spring, depending on what type of fishing you’re doing. You will also see lots of people jigging points all over the lake. Some of the more popular spots are near/around Lake City, Long Point, and across on the Wi side, the head of the lake area, and the rip wrap shorelines from L. City all the way to LaCopoulis. I like to get ’em in the spring trolling crank baits along the shorelines, in, around, and between these areas – usally near rocks. Look for FTR postings from James Holst and others as to
the hot depths and size of baits to use.
January 9, 2002 at 1:00 am #236285Jon – Had a relatively productive day, most time spend at the Y. Jigs tipped with minows were OK. But we hit ’em hard throughout the day with plastics. The action was not fast-paced, but it was steady. More than enough to keep an angler interested. Good luck in the twin cities Sat!!!!

January 2, 2002 at 8:02 pm #236068Not to sound like a rookie… But what kind of bait and/or presentations work on the Pepin hard water fish? My folks have lived in Lake City for 7 years, I’m on the water all spring and summer. But we’ve never dropped a line through the ice. Much appreciated!
