I just finished doing a television show for The Next Bite with Mike Gofron and Chase Parsons. We were also checking the water out for AIM to double check the tournament viability. Mark Martin had checked it out previously in early June, so AIM is definitely not going into this area blind. In my opinion, this may be the most interesting body of water that we fish… Everyone knows how diverse the St. Mary’s system is below the locks. We found the bay to be full of fish, and caught about 30 each day and to be truthful only fished the bay about 5 hours each day with other time spent just driving around the huge and beautiful area. The locks are only 12 miles away, and the whole system will be open, including Canada. Obviously logistics will need to be figured out, but I’m truly excited about fishing here. It’s nice to have another Great Lakes area where we can actually have a viable fishing area to fish just in case the weather turns severe (the bay itself and protected areas). This is going to be a purely interesting tournament with much unexplored water on a great fishing system, at one of the best times of the year, and the Bay Mills facility is fabulous. The resort casino is beautiful with plenty of parking, and they have a great protected launch with two ramps. This is a pretty special event with the Casino adding much cash to the purse, but will be an invitational. Payouts will be 150 to 200% depending on how much we decide the entry fee to be. There is still time to make sure that you can procure the Pro invitation as I’m quite sure that any angler that fishes 3 of the 4 AIM events this year (in the Pro division) will get in. I believe that the deadline for the Green Bay event is June 24th, so get those Pro entrys in today. Every one complains about payouts not being that good, so here is an opportunity to get into an event where the anglers are fishing for alot more than their own money. Also, the Green Bay bite is on big time and with AIM’s format all can look forward to an unbelievable tournament event.
