Ok you convinced me, Yamaha it is. I talked to the dealer and it turns out I can get a better deal on the Yamaha.
Thanks everyone.
November 2, 2011 at 8:59 am #1005892Just a note – Rock Crekk is closed as of today 11-2-11. They wer taking out the docks yesterday.
July 16, 2011 at 3:59 pm #981449I don’t want to hear and see it. I am tired of the high and fast water. It is very hard to fish the wingdams when the flow rate is 85,000.
So please keep it up north for a few months.
March 19, 2011 at 10:41 am #948655Were you fishing wingdams, shallow, backwaters or what? It looks like we are in for a lot of high water in the near future, I wish they were wrong but it does not appear that they are. I just hope that it does not last long. Hopefully it goes down by the time I get back to Iowa.
December 14, 2010 at 11:33 am #917059Since Pool 14 is all frozen in why don’t you bring it down and we can go fishing in Arizona. The weather has been great and there are so many lakes to fish we could keep busy until Pool 14 thaws out.
November 29, 2010 at 9:39 am #912983There goes the neighborhood, another new rig in pool 14. It doesn’t seem fair that he gets a new ride and I still use my 26 year old rig. But I don’t care if I get worms and fish guts all over mine.
Nice ride, see you on the water in the spring.
September 15, 2010 at 6:33 pm #898999Based upon the flow rates at LD #13 it has been a very BIG challenge. Look how 2009 compares to 2010.
2009 2010
8-1 27,193 101,870
8-8 20,273 67,483
8-15 31,502 77,804
8-22 36,491 100,490
8-29 58,619 73,369
9-1 43,646 64,487
9-8 28,840 59,213
9-15 20,730 54,558At elast it’s going down , just very fast.
Have a great
July 3, 2010 at 1:32 pm #884343I was there Thursday in the am also and had no luck on walleyes. I was using a three way with a crawler and at times a drop weight of jig head and gulp. I even tried for bluegills and they did not want anything I was offering. Maybe next week the river will be down and I can get to some wingdams.
Have a great fourth
November 28, 2009 at 10:34 am #818842Thanks for the great report. I have a question for you. What do you mean by “Slip drift”?
Thanks
November 23, 2009 at 10:19 am #817786When you say the north end do you mean by the dam that has the barge tied up to it?
October 20, 2009 at 9:45 pm #810476Way to go!!!!!! I was out yesterday and despite the wind I did manage one 26.75″ I also had two that broke off, so I have to assume they were walleye, at least that is what I am sticking with. The one I got in the boat did not move once I got in. I never had that happen before. I am hoping for a few more good days.
October 15, 2009 at 9:40 am #809340Give us more details. What were you using and where were you using it? 3 ways, crankbaits, wingdams, back waters or what.
It has been to COLD for me that last couple of weeks, but I am hoping that it will warm up a little.
We should try doubling up in one of our boats and then we could take pictures of all of the monsters being caught.
Have a great day.
September 25, 2009 at 12:33 pm #806444I was also on pool 14 Thursday and had better luck. I kept 2 walleye and had others in the slot that were realeased to swim another day. I had luck with Rapala #9 crankbait and Gulp shad bait. I had one bite off my shad bait and jig, I threw back asap with a crankbait and it bite it off also. That must of been one big fish.
I think that it is improving and hopefully will continue.
Have a great day.
July 31, 2009 at 9:32 pm #794684I was out on Thursday and the conditions have not improved at all. The water looked like chocolate milk and weeds were still coming down. Not even a bit once again, I am sorry to say. Hopefully it will clear up in the next week.
July 27, 2009 at 9:42 am #793286I know what you mean, I was out on Thursday and had the same trouble. Not one walleye, maybe this week. I was surprised with all of the grass floating, that is more like late August.
June 22, 2009 at 9:44 am #785584I was on Pool 14 on Thursday and based upon my experience it is not on fire. I did not even have a bit in about 4 hours. Now I will have to admit it that it rained just a little that day. It was dirty and fast.
May 31, 2009 at 8:51 pm #780639Which sand pit were you fishing? The lower one right off the main channel or the ones up river off the back water slough?
I have tried both but never had much luck.
May 30, 2009 at 10:00 am #780460Speed Trollin – What was your secret on the crappie? I have never had any luck on Pool 14 for crappie.
February 9, 2009 at 10:57 am #746242Way to go. I can’t wait for the weather to warm enough for me to get out.
October 13, 2007 at 9:15 am #616182Way to go. I hope that it only keeps getting better.
Give us some insight into what you were using for bait and what structure you were fishing.
Have a great day.
October 6, 2007 at 9:37 am #613999I was on pool 14 on Thursday and agree with Jig fan. Lots and lots of debris and very few fish. I guess I did not find that rock point since I did not catch a single walleye. In fact I don’t think that I had a bite from a walleye.
Jig fan. we should get together for a fishing trip. I launch from the ramp in the backwaters of Camanche. I try to get out every Thursday.
Have a great day.
July 23, 2007 at 12:25 pm #592855Don’t keep us in suspense. What were you using???? We promise we will not tell anyone else. I was out on Friday and had no luck other than gar and a few bluegills.
Have a great day.
July 10, 2006 at 2:56 pm #459233John help me out understanding where the sand dunes are located. I was not aware that we had sand dunes in the Mississippi!
All the help I can get in locating the walleye is appreciated.
Thanks
July 5, 2006 at 4:43 pm #458232Great to hear you had good luck. I was out in the same general area on Tuesday and did not have the same luck. I caught a few short walleyes and a lot of gar. I am not sure what you mean by the Albany flats? Any information that you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and have a great day.
