Hit many of the bays on Prior yesterday afternoon and only found a few (and I mean few) Crappies in the shallows. The Harbor, Paradise, Boudins, Candy Cove on Lower and Mud Bay on Upper all were relatively devoid of shallow water crappies. We did see lots of Carp in Mud Bay and plenty of nice Sunfish along with schools of juvenile bass.

The water temp was 61-63 depending on the bay. Main Lake was 60F

Props on picking up the extras Jack! We had similar results on Prior on Saturday with my son and a school buddy. We were into all sunfish (gills, pumpkinseeds and a few hybrids greenies)but everything wanted movement.

In case you’re still looking- we’re now 12 years in a row and never been disappointed. This year’s group of 10 (4 guys, 4 ladies, 2 kids) caught 72 walleyes over 24″ including 12 over 27″- ALL CPR’d.

The Silver Water Wheel Lodge ROCKS!!!

If you’re still looking, I wouldn’t look any further than the Silver Water Wheel Lodge on Lac Seul. First rate service, fully guided and they have a great outpost program if you want to cook, clean etc.

Google the name to find the website and then call Mike & Missy for details.

11 years andcounting… we have NEVER been disappointed.

Just got an email from one of the launch guests that was floating nearby and got some action shots!

James, if you need a sidekick for season 4 of IDO TV , I think Julia would be game

The netman was a little ill prepared (walleye net only), but he did manage to get both hands around it and hand land it

I might have to look at a big Beckman if we keep frequenting the big pond

Now my fishing partner wants to learn how to work the tiller so “That way you can have more time to fish, Dad!”

Now, if she can read the electronics, I’m set!

    2 hours out of Everts… 3-5pm
    3 kids in tow (8yrold, 10 yr old, and a 55yr old)
    36F water temp
    22F air temp
1 fat keeper sauger (17.5″) and a few little dinks.

Not bad for my first time on P4.

I’m told the best is coming very soon…

I’m heading down in the morning for my first ever P4 run… Lots of Questions…

What time does Dean open up at Everts?
What time should I be on the water?
What kind of cookies does Dean like?

I’ve been reading and watching everything I can on dragging… I have a fresh bag of BFishn ringworms (purple/chart) and ready to pick up a couple of draggin’ jigs.

    Am I missing anything else???

    Ryno,

I haven’t left the Auger in the hole, but I was worried the bouncy 25 mile sled rife back and forth to Oak Island for 4 days might have done it in.

Thanks for the quick response Calvin. Any ideas where in the metro a guy can pick one up (new or used)?

I was out Tues/Wed last week and was amazed to see all of the vehicles on the ice. I don’t want to be alarmist or a downer, but all I could find was 7-8″ of ice regardless of where I looked. The bite is good, but not worth dumping a vehicle through.

    Be careful out there everyone!

I’m out there this weekend as well with some buddies. Any advice for an out-of-towner to catch some ‘eyes? I’ve been out twice in the last couple of days and only managed 10-12″ fish.

    Thanks,

I was out Friday night for a couple of hours on Prior with my little fishing buddy and he certainly showed the old man up(I obviously taught him too well).

After dodging some clowns with 7-8 guys in a boat, we got away to a quiet shorleine and started catching fish.

The irritating part about some of these boats is that they have absolutely no etiquette. I was cut off on more than one trolling pass and had them drive over my line on the last pass longlining raps before I picked up and moved. It’s a big lake, do they have to sit right on top of you? I might as well have had them hook onto the D-Ring on the back of my boat and charge a guiding fee.

Anyway, the bite is sporatic but there if you’re patient and avoid the circus

    Three words…
    Silver Water Wheel.

Mike runs one of the best, if not the best outfit anywhere. I’ve been all over Lac Seul, as well as the rest of Ontario and Manitoba. SWWL has an outpost in Vaughn as well, but the guys routinely run to Bray and other mid lake holes daily from the main lodge since its so close.
