I haven’t fished with him, but I hear he is first rate. He runs a small fishing forum similar to IDA.

Do you mind saying who the guide is? I have a pretty knowledge of most of them.
If you are fishing in for Chinook in October, the Columbia river run is pretty much done. You will probably be fishing in the bays or tidewater down at the coast.
Fall Chinook are not required to have a fin clip (most are natives of a healthy self-sustaining stock). You will be allowed 2 fish per day. If you are going with a guide, you better be booked soon. This is a popular fishery. Bring your best rain gear.
This also is some of the best walleye time on the Columbia.
Good Luck!
I am a big fan of the Quantum Accurist. I use it for both vertical jigging and trolling harnesses. The flippin switch is a gotta have for me. They also have a lefty model (another gotta have for me). They did an upgrade for 05. I’ll be buying another one soon.
Quantum Accurist
I’ve got one on my 824 Minnie (48# thrust). I have to admit, not a huge difference.
I got the Cabelas Left hand line counter this spring. Only LH linecounter I know of. Very smooth drag and very sound.
I have one and love it. The only issue is in the install, some guys don’t hook up power to the gps module- I made the same mistake. NO PROBLEMS…
how is the Eagle Seacharter 500CDF and the Lowrance 337CDF different?
Dang!! you sure put a hurtin on them this fall. I wish I had 1/10th the success you’ve had. I did get out on the big C a few times this fall, but most days come home with my tail between my legs. Without giving away your “honey holes”, any techniques, river areas or other help you could share?
I’m kicking around the idea this off season of either the 276c portable unit, or the 172c for a bigger screen. Alot of times I fish on another guys boat and I like to bring my locations and contours. I was thinking of using the 172c and making it protable with a case and power supply. Can the Bluechart chips be used on 2 different units?
Chris, Glad to hear the bite has improved in the lower river. Sounds like a nice bunch of fish you got into. I have a few more house projects, then I need to get out and get ready for the Camas tournament. If you have an open seat when you’re down here, let me know.
I’ll be in the market someday for a mapping unit for my boat. Looking for what will have the best charts and contours for the Columbia River from the Snake River down to the ocean. Also lakes of Oregon and Washington. Which one- Garmin or the big L??
I think I put this in the wrong forum… maybe general discussion would have been better. Anyway, 48# Autopilot on bow, 9.9 Yamaha 4-stroke power thrust on the stern. Plenty o power.
Does anyone out there run the early nineties version of the T-9.9’s. I have an oppertunity to get one and wonder how they are holding up.
Thanks.
What’s your point , 3-way? If you had a problem with a guide out here, you should have have posted a complaint to that states guide association or the BBB. I know if someone had messed with me like that, I would know his name. I’m sure there’s more to the story than you are posting.
You guys planning a trip out here, Late summer/early fall is awesome- plan for a full moon for night fishing. For a place to stay, I like Boardman Marina Park Excellent pull thru and back in full hook up campsites (tenting also).
Great ramp w/docks, cleaning station, hot showers, trees and shade, free overnite dock (1st come/1st serv). And right in front of some excellent walleye water. If you are interested in tournament fishing, here is a schedule link
Whattya mean Happy New Year??? It’s only 11:00 out here on the left coast…
The best to all you for the new year.
No ice here. Plenty cold though. High temps on the west side of the mountains barely reaching freezing. In eastern Oregon highs in the 20’s. Snow forecast tonite. I last recall a frozen Columbia in 1983(?)in eastern Oregon. There is some ice fishing on the lakes in eastern Washington, but not for me….we went sturgeon fishing last weekend and caught some shakers. Here is my friend Todd with an undersized. Lots of fun to catch. There’s always big ones out there when you least expect it.
I hate to burst your bubble, those are hills, not mountains.
Here is a mountain. Mt. Hood 11,235 ft. 40 miles from Portland. 20 miles from the Columbia.
More info: Mt. Hood, Oregon
Looks nice and calm. Are you finding the fish up by the deadline and Preacher’s Eddy, or down the WA. side by the willows. I’ve done fair along the rip-rap on the OR side downstream from the ramp in the past. Are you blade baiting still or worm harnesses, or … I haven’t done much walleye fish after October, so I was wondering what the seasonal tactics are. Thanks for any info you can share.

I’ve had Trojan group 27’s for 2 years and they have been great. I’d have a difficult time justifing high dollar batteries.
Steve, my favorite maps are from http://www.fishnmap.com/
They are vinyl coated and break up contour lines down to 5′. Also are highlighted with known hot spots. They have the Columbia broken down into 2 regions- you would probably want “above Bonneville Dam” for best fishing areas, or below Bonneville if your fishing near Portland. There are also good maps for Washington including Potholes, Banks, and Lake Roosevelt.
Those are copies of the old Wiggle Warts, Mossydan. The Tadpollys (which I have a box full) have a more rounded divivng bill and a longer body. You can see more on-line at http://bsfishtales.com and buy them at http://www.jacksinternational.com/ . Jack’s has more colors than are posted on Brad’s site.
Note to moderators- I don’t know if you have a policy regarding links to non-sponsers. I have no vested interest in either company. Just sharing lures I like.
