Give the folks at the Red Door a call. They have nice clean facilities, and are constantly trying to keep their rentals on fish. Also good roads to most of the mud flats on the north end with lots of places to fish as soon as they can get out there. Ya can get into some nice Jumbos too. Note that The Red Door is also a web site sponsor also with almost daily fishing and ice condition reports during the season. Good Luck!!!

Thanks Red Door for giving us the heads up concerning the flooding problems with the perms. I had my shack blocked with the runners sitting 6 1/2 inches above the ice. When I got there on wednesday, the runners were froze in about 1 inch from the bottom. Thats alot of pooling under the house. I realize that everyones house is different depending on size, weight, and location, but being forwarned, I was prepared to deal with it.( Jacks, spud bars, steel shovels, extra blocking, etc.) It was a real treat just chipping through the banking. Good Luck.

Thanks Red Door for keeping us all up to date on the ice conditions and fishing reports. Knowing that your keeping a close eye on things makes us feel more confident during our travels out on the ice.

Thanks for the road update Red Door Reporter. I see you are very very knowledgeable about the north end mud flats. Do you ever fish’em? Perhaps you could give us an occasional fishin report. I haven’t figured out who you are yet, but I’m still workin on it.

Look at the bright side. With all of the nets they still have floating around. Maybe they wont need to set as many this spring.

I got checked yesterday out of The Red Door. CO Luke Croat. Nice guy. Pretty friendly. He’s checked me in past years also. Told him I always look for his reports in The Outdoor News Magazine cuffs and collars. I havent seen my name in there yet.

Hey Deerwoody, Where have you been having the most success? Mud? Gravel? Shoreline Breaks? Are you fishing perch or walleyes?

Chomps…one season at a time! That’s a sweet thought but—It looks like a long winter.

Good one Red Door. Hey Chomps. You should see the north 40 in the spring. They have sap collection bags hanging all over. I think Steve Fellegy sneaks over and gets the sap.

Hey….Welcome Red Door, and thanks for the update on ice conditions. I was just wondering how things were shaping up on the north end. Thanks for sponsoring the IDO website. Its the best site around. Take it from someone who hits’em all. Hopefully I’ll be over to see you guys in the next couple of weeks. Come’on cold weather!!!

I find it interesting that warm water, fishing tournaments, and catch and release stressed fish are the culprids in the declining walleye population. Geeee Don, How about all of the SPAWNING walleyes that are netted each spring? Funny that wasn’t mentioned.

I went corkin monday night on the north end mud. Missed 3 and caught a 22 1/2″. Very lite bitters. Had the lake to myself. Only saw 3 other boats as far as the eye could see. Never saw the lake so quiet.

Amen to that Flatfish. I think its evolution. That way they can swim through the nets. Our judges, lawyers, and politicians aren’t smart enough to put a stop to it.

Thanks Steve for that flash from the past. The Fellegy’s are Mille Lacs historians. Always a interesting read. I’ll never complain about being able to go out and catch a bunch of 16″-28″ Walleyes so close to home. Why waste my money going to Canada, LOW, or the Missouri River?

I dont know that much about tournament fishing anymore, but how much of the entry fee is put up by the sponsors, and not the individual fisherman?

I have no problem with any corporation making a profit, but not by holding my feet to the fire. No CEO is worth millions per year. They’re not JC out there performing miracles or anything. I must be getting old and complacent, but bending over and taking it up the butt isn’t the way we voiced our opinions in the 70’s. I read this in the Outdoor Gear Forum.
