I took my duaghters out fri-sat mornings. We were close to the roost on fri but never saw a bird. They sounded like they were coming about the same time a coyote started yelping to our west. That was obviously the end of that. Sat in a different spot, heard a couple faint gobbles never saw a bird. Same windy conditions. Went out today by meyself, of course two long birds come in. I passed and let em walk. Try again tomorrow when both girls will be with me. Seems like the warm weather has got them moving again. On my way to work saw single tom with hen two times in spots I don’t normally see birds.
April 19, 2013 at 2:53 am #130104Man that’s tough. I couldn’t plan that much. I’d be going to the looney bin. Sorry for this. We all dread the day. Looking at my buddy now, he
s sitting at my feet. I can see all the good days chasing Dakota birds.April 19, 2013 at 2:53 am #130103Man that’s tough. I couldn’t plan that much. I’d be going to the looney bin. Sorry for this. We all dread the day. Looking at my buddy now, he

July 31, 2012 at 7:21 pm #121695I agree on the crate issue. We never used a crate and thought it was incredibly terrible to keep the dog in the crate.
We are now on our fourth dog that is kept in a crate when we are not home. It is common for the dogs to be locked up for 8-10 hours. It keeps them and our house safe.
In fact we leave the doors open when we are home so they can get a break from the kids.
May 3, 2012 at 11:19 am #1065158About five years ago we went to Vegas. Pool at the Mirage had a hot bite.
May 2, 2012 at 12:18 pm #120321Last week I had a lot of hens talking to me and coming into my sets. Not so much on the gobblers. I don’t think they are as far along as we would think with the early spring. At least I will keep telling myself that for my bow tag that starts next week
May 2, 2012 at 12:14 pm #120318I’ve been out nine days this year in three states and the only thing that has worked is submissive hen and no tom/jake decoys. Not sure if it is a fluke or not, but last week I couldn’t get anything to come in until sat morning I put out two hens and 45 minutes into it, big Tom down.
April 8, 2012 at 4:45 am #119786Buddies/family and I tentatively have a Osceola/Pig hunt scheduled for March 2014, any advice after what you just experienced? keep in mind we need the Osceola for the slam…
March 14, 2012 at 11:07 am #119382If you like the Beretta 92, I would suggest seriously looking at the M&P series from S&W. I vowed to never carry another Smith and was a diehard Beretta guy until they came out with the M&P line. Just my 2cents.
January 31, 2012 at 2:23 pm #118198I think a flock of ducks is a flock, same for geese and other flying rats. However, I prefer to see turkeys in a large gaggle of birds.
Not sure, but in my circle of hunyucks, we call it a gaggle.
t- two months to Nebraska and SD turkey hunting.
January 28, 2012 at 3:24 am #118131I bought my 8 year old a 20 gauge for turkey hunting this spring. I hope its the right decision. It was a no brainer until a bunch of people gave me funny looks.
January 9, 2012 at 1:35 pm #117567It was slow, but we were able to pound a limit out each day until we headed to the southeast part of the state. You can cross SE NODAK off the map for the next two years. I mean hardly even a hen around. I think we got three roosters the day we hunted SE.
Someone should give the HUNS some steroids, too hard to hit those little SOB’s.
October 31, 2011 at 11:52 pm #113543Thanks for the ideas. The public land debate I hadn’t thought of.

October 6, 2011 at 5:30 pm #999628I thought the cooler water was less dense and rose, which forces the warm water down. But i also know squadoosh about science. who cares, fall is here…
September 8, 2011 at 12:53 pm #993575Geez, he didn’t even slam me for running out of oil in the big motor which in turn caused me to run the T8 in to shore for more oil. With the wind I then hit the rocks with the kicker, merely a flesh wound to the prop.
September 3, 2011 at 2:22 pm #992790‘I TRY HARD’ will be busy netting my fish, if you can leave the fetal position at the bottom of the boat…
August 30, 2011 at 6:37 pm #991924I am so stoked for this fall. Haven’t been able to fish much this summer for family reasons. Can hardly wait for Oct full moon. Don’t think the water will be prime for Sept, but Oct/Nov should be on fire.
Last fall was the best I have ever had on ML. Should be even better this year.
June 27, 2011 at 10:34 pm #107003A less expensive option is to use Permethrin. I used it this spring while turkey hunting. Not a deer hunter, so I don’t know if it would have a scent for the deer.
May 25, 2011 at 4:24 pm #106536I am waiting for a call from a Conservation Officer. Friend of mine told me the same thing, that they would re-issue a tag even though tomorrow is the last day.
