    Here is the formula for determining the distance across the cone. You will need a decent calculator for this

    Take ½ the cone angle hit the Tangent (TAN) button times the depth of the water column times 2

    So if you were using the 20 degree ducer in 15 feet of water the equation would be:

    10 tan x 15 x 2 = 5.28

    The transducer stop is in place to stop the cord from sliding so that it hangs at the proper depth. They are slotted for adjustments as the ice gets thicker.

    Tip ups are no different than rods you get what you pay for. I have a couple Beaver dams and love them.

    Don’t forget the VX-1 also has split screen zoom. Lot of performance for the price.

    Nature Vision also makes a great portable and permanent rod holder. The rattle snake shaft is flexible for positioning and the holder swivels so there is no resistance on the take.
