I don’t think you need to go that big. I have an underpowered motor on my 16.5 alumicraft. Only 35# thrust and I fish the river all the time. 95% of the time 35# is more than enough. We bought the boat with the motor set up and have never upgraded in seven years. I do have a 55# thrust unit on the transom, and rarely use it.
For your boat I would go with a 50-60 # thrust. My boat is a little wider and heavey than yours and you should be just fine with a 50# thrust. More power is great if you can afford it though. Auto-pilot is a must for fishing the river with ease. Good luck

I bought a new Grizzly 4wheeler. The only thing is how long I can hide it before the wife finds out

Poor, fished for 4 hrs this am and came home empty. Did not try the dam, and heard a few fish (not many)were caught up there. Only saw 2 fish boated.

Navionics, just picked up the new one a few weeks ago. Has 8 times more lakes than their previous one. Had the lakemasters before this one. Both are good Navionics is little more detailed.

Talk about bittersweet. If I was over in Irag and saw that in my mailbag, I would be excited as all heck. Then after reading it I would be thrown into a deep depretion. Not, being able to go fishing isn’t so bad when your not thinking about the great spring bite your missing. The articles would just make me miss the good ol usa.

Hats off to all the young men and women who are sacraficing for the rest of us.

Outdoor new gets big props from me for their effort.

Thanks Bongers, after I posted I saw a different thread that covered the topic. Thanks for the advice, sounds like I can get them at everts. From mankato and no-one in the area has much for weights.

Agree with Garvi. Great site. Have one more question. What do you use for the weight, and how heavey? I know the current changes so your weight has to change, but have a hard time finding 2 oz bell sinkers in my area since 3 ways aren’t used on local lakes.
