Sounds like you had a good day Sandbar. Were you the guy in the black Crestliner I talked to a couple of times during our drifts? I was in the blue/white Crestliner w/60 HP Mercury motor. I didn’t have any luck but am just learning to fish the St. Croix. I was using minnows. It really was a nice day to be on the water.

It really was a fun time as the weather, food, and company were great and everyone managed to catch some fish also. A big thank you to Mike, Bill, & Doug, sponsors who donated prizes, and everyone else who donated their time and efforts to make this event a huge success. All of your efforts are appreciated. I was surprised that no crappies were caught either but catching some nice gills made up for it. Looking forward to next year’s GTG already.

Thanks for the update Mike. I plan on being there for the GTG on 03-04-07. Hopefully the fishing will be good but regardless it should be a fun event! Thanks for putting this event together.

I really hope to make it to the Rochester GTG this weekend as it sounds like a very fun event. Hopefully the weather will allow me to make it.

Thanks for the replies guys. KR7 is really a nice little lake even if it is a little bit of a walk from the parking lot to get to it. I am a big fan of catch and release, slot limits, etc. especially on smaller bodies of water but will ocassionally keep a few fish to eat. I just enjoy having the opportunity to catch larger panfish even if it means just catch and release or size limits. It is nice to have a couple of more places to fish around Rochester area than we had previously. I hope to make it down to the Sports & Vacation Show in Rochester this weekend but haven’t finalized my plans yet. If I do make it, I might try to squeeze in some more ice fishing around Rochester as well as I haven’t found many places around Prescott area yet to ice fish.

It certainly was very cold as a friend of mine from a local fishing club and I launched my boat at Terry’s Boat Harbor last night at around 6 PM. Fishing was on the slow side for numbers of fish in St. Albans as we ended up with 7 walleyes and 3 northerns. Our biggest walleye was 26″ and we kept 3 eaters. Trolling speed was 1.1 mph or less and 6′ of water was our best depth. Never really had any moon all night as as soon as it came up it disappeared behind the thick cloud cover which certainly didn’t help us. We had difficulty putting together a consistent pattern for the night but we had a nice mini- flurry of activity between 1-2 AM in an area where it had been the “dead sea” earlier in the night. Tennessee Shad #12 Husky Jerks caught our larger fish and a Lazer Craw Rogue worked fairly well also. Had a total of 6-7 short hits also and tried #14 Husky Jerks a little with no luck. Unfortunateky it was my last trip to The Pond this year but I feel blessed to have spent 8 nights there fishing this Fall season. Thank you to everyone for posting there reports this Fall on this forum and good luck to anyone still heading up there this year! Dress warm!

Thanks Jack. Sounds like you had a great night fishing with Dereck on Saturday night with lots of large walleyes.

I caught 1 tagged fish back on Oct. 10th and ended up keeping the fish because it was an eater. This may be a stupid question but should I still call the phone number on the tag since I kept the fish? Thanks.

When I bought my Crestliner boat 3 years ago I thought that my 60 HP Mercury motor would idle down just fine for all my trolling needs. I really didn’t foresee all the benefits a kicker motor would give me. However, I found out rather quickly during my first year with the boat that wasn’t the case and bought a T8 2 years ago. Most throttles on main motors are a little touchy to stay locked on a particular speed and you don’t have nearly the same fine tuning adjustments that I have with my T8. I love to night fish on Mille Lacs in the Fall and on many nights just a couple of tenths of a mile per hour adjustment in speed can turn a slow or average night into a very good night. I really like the extra power and control my T8 gives me when fishing the current in the river or if I am having a problem with my trolling motor or main motor. They are a little pricey but worth every penny in my opinion if you can afford one. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply Mike W. What the fish want on Mille Lacs does seem to change sometimes from night to night and it can be a challenge to figure it out. We were trolling shallow that night in fairly straight lines also. Like most people, I prefer to hold the rod as the vicious strikes from these fish never gets old but will do whatever it takes to get fish in the boat. Keep the reports coming.

We’ve experienced all three, direct antena, dish network and Charter cable. Hands down Charter cable wins. When you loose your service every snow or rain storm you begin to see what the value is. High speed internet is second to none, and I speak from experience with DSL and dial up currently. As far as the video, you can purchase the service and it is for all of your TV’s. But tell me how much did you pay to put a box on each of your TV’s or does your family watch the same thing on from different rooms every night. If you truly match prices, you can’t argue the value of Charter cable TV.

Thanks Jack & Ritt14 for your replies. I appreciate it. I can’t wait to get out on the ice as the power auger and vex are ready to go. See you on the ice.

Thanks for the report Jack. Sounds like you have a good day of fishing. Were any other boats around you pulling 3 ways and live bait or cranks or is most everyone just veritical jigging plastics now? I am anxious to get back over to Pool 4 again but would like a little warmer weather than is predicted for the rest of this week.

My brother and I ended up driving up to Mille Lacs on Thursday night only to turn around and head back home. It was dissapointing but the light snow they had forecast was covering the ground and we were concerned about being able to get boat back on trailer at the end of the night. We ended up fishing Pool 4 for 3 days and caught alot of nice sauger and walleyes pulling 3 ways w/floaters and minnows. Can’t wait to get back to Mille Lacs next year though!

Thanks for the update Bobber! We will be heading up there in a couple of hours and will either put in at Pikes Point or Casino Bay. I am going to bring some sand along just in case the ramps are icy.

I plan to fish Thursday, Friday, & Saturday nights. I have been busy figuring out how many layers of clothes and jackets I can fit under my Goretex rain gear & still zip it up. Hope the walleyes are still on the prowl!

Thanks Bill. It was a fun tournament on Saturday and a great year overall. Congrats to you and Roger on your 1st place finish. I figured it would take close to 15 pounds to win the tournament. Joining Walleye Searchers has definately been one of the best decisions I have made. Can’t wait till next year!

Thanks Jack! I appreciate the information. Glad to hear the dock is still in for now anyway. It is good to know also about the red & green markers being removed out in front of the access. I have 1 last question. What depth of water did you catch most of your fish from? Thanks again.

Those are some very nice fish Jack! My brother and I are heading up for 3 nights of fishing next week so I hope the bite will still be going strong. I was curious what the water temperature was for you guys on Friday night? Also, is the dock still in at the access for Casino Bay?
