Don’t forget about G-loomis Imx rods… Just a bit more money but they’re worth every penny, and than some. The LT’s are awesome too though, just thought I’d help keep your options open.

Yea, I know what you mean! This time of year is searching time, i.e lot’s of trolling. I like to troll a bit deeper than usual and with bigger baits. I will usually start out at those main lake points and work my way towards the channel in front of “Warners point”. If that doesn’t pay out I will drift the deepest end of those main points with a 1/8oz jig and usually I will snag some eyes or good northerns{8-10lb}. And if that still doesn’t pan out I will try unusual spots like those shoreline flats trolling with a shallow shad rap. You just have to throw the whole book at em’. If none of these spots or techniques work they could very well be in those channels past warners point in the direction of horseshoe, which are spots I rarely fish. I should be back up there soon and I’ll let ya’ know what worked and what didn’t. Good luck!
August 31, 2005 at 3:53 am #381266Ok I’m pretty sure I know where you’re talking about now. Next time I am up I will check the spot I am thinking of and than I’ll know forsure. You gotta get up there soon, take advantage of grouse hunting opener and get the lake to yourself! Saw 2 7 pounders {eye’s} on the willey’s board, the bite is on
August 31, 2005 at 3:24 am #381264Oops, I thought you were talking baitcasters lol, have to re-write this post. Well, I suggested medium power thinking baitcaster and I would probably stick with that for spinning as well. I do my jigging on a medium power rod and it does just fine, the sesitivity is all there even for light bites. And it also has the power for bigger jigs and rigs too, a very versatile power.
August 29, 2005 at 5:22 pm #380852Go with the legend tournament if you can afford it. Avid’s are super rods but the technology used in the legend tournament rods is just awesome.
August 29, 2005 at 5:11 pm #380847Honestly, I don’t know where the 101 steps are. Well, I’m sure I’d know the spot if I see it. Maybe you could try to explain it’s location on the lake for me, I would be grateful
August 17, 2005 at 7:02 am #378717Well, I went with the G-loomis 7ft med bucktail rod with a rating of 1-3 ounce lures, and fast action . It just seemed perfect as I religously throw Musky candy bucktails and spinnerbaits and I don’t believe those go over 3 ounces. I like 7ft too, just right for me as I’m only 5’8”. I just have one more question though. I’ve never owned a Loomis before and I was wondering if any of you know what there customer service is like? Ok thanks guys!
August 16, 2005 at 1:28 am #378424Hmm, I was hoping you guys would say they aren’t that good just to make life easier . Now things get real tough as it’s a battle between a Fig Rig and the tried and true St croix premier. I’m gonna hit up Gander and Thorne bro’s this weekend and I’ll let ya’ll know what I decided to purchase.
August 16, 2005 at 1:22 am #378422Oh yea, when I finally get that 50 incher I’ll make sure to post some pics Hey lip-ripper whereabouts on Minnewawa is your cabin? Our’s used to be on the main bay directly across from Bann’s, kind of by Warners point. I do most all of my walleye fishing on those main lake humps and for Bass I like to work the areas around the channel leading to Horseshoe, mostly that slop stuff. Well, I’m sure we could talk about this all day long, lot’s of memories. I still make it up there alot but it’s pretty depressing seeing my old dock and cabin. Take it easy all and thanks again for the welcomes!
August 15, 2005 at 3:46 am #378225Heya.
This isn’t really in the areas you mentioned but it’s such a nice spot you should give it a try. It’s called “Savanna state campground” it’s just north of Mcgregor and inside the campground there is a trout lake and a lake with bass and panfish, both have piers. Plus, it’s only about 10 minutes away from Horseshoe lake which has excellent walleye and Bass fishing right from shore. It is near Big Sandy river too, which also has good walleye fishing from shore. Even if you don’t go there this time, try it someday. The camp has alot of trails inhabited by deer and grouse, a real nice treat.I can give more info if you’re interested.August 15, 2005 at 2:28 am #378207Hey everybody.
