Thanks for the tip. I’ll have to try that spot out since my spot is now only producing small crappies.

Yeah I feel out of place on the weekends in the 1700 lund fisherman I fish out of. There’s a lot of small lakes in the area but I don’t know if they hold a good population of walleyes. I’ve been fishing lakes up near longville on my way home from work on the weekends but haven’t done so hot. I might have to start fishing for panfish for a meal since I can’t seem to find the walleyes. They’ve been doing good on upper whitefish but it’s been a litte to windy for me.

WOW! Great story. Thanks for sharing. Someone was watching out for him while he was over there that’s for sure.

I don’t think that boat has much trade-in value anymore but I could sell him a new Sea Ray….We’ll just take the lower unit off this one and save him the trouble this time.

That “ratapault” idea gave me a big laugh. I’ve seen videos of people doing that to tree rats with a clay pigeon thrower and water balloon sling shots.
My parents had a HUGE problem with mice last year in Sandstone, MN. The local stores were always out of traps and poison ect… Guess everyone in the area had the same problem. Luckly the had the problem outside and not in the house because my Dad would’ve came home to no wife. Anyway a guy at my work told me if they have the problem next year to take a 5 gallon bucket and string a wire tightly across the top and put peanut butter on the wire while the bucket has water in the bottom of it. Mice will keep licking the wire while on it and soon fall into the water and drown. He said they’d kill 10-15 a night at their cabin.
Now I know a 5 gallon bucket might not work for rats because they might be able to climb or jump out but maybe if you had a old tub or 50 gallon drum. This is just to give you some more thinking tools to think about. If you end up inventing a rat killer and become a millionare send me a case of beer!

Not to disapoint you in anyway because this may not be true. But I heard on the news once a while back when they interviewing an exterminator and he said if you see 1 rat there’s 70. I don’t know how true this but for your sake I hope it’s not. I do know for a fact that they can chew through concrete and can jump up to 6ft in the air and also very good swimmers. That I learned on the discovery channel.
Good luck on getting rid of them. I’d think they’d move on if there’s no food. I’d let everyone in the neiborhood to keep all dog food and bird seed indoors for a while. Catch a few in a live trap and go muskie fishing!

They most certainly do. We just baked one last weekend (8 pounder) in a bacon wrap with stuffing … fabulous!

And they definitely need to be scaled beforehand.

This sounds good! What’s your recipe for this and how do you cook it? If you don’t mind sharing.

The pike we fried up were about 3lbs. I don’t know if it works on a big pike but I don’t keep pike over 5lbs.

I think I might have you topped. I work in Walker, MN and Leech lake is across the road from my work and all I’ve seen all day is people with boats driving by. Gov. Tim Pawlenty is having his opener up here so this town is packed. I have to deliver a boat to Garrison after work at 7pm then drive all the way back to Walker to get my truck then drive back home to Crosslake. I still have a long day of driving in front of me. I’ll be fighting the opener trafic on 371 and 169. Just to make the dollar. Tomorrow morning is looks like it’ll never come for me!

Thanks guys for all of your info. Looks like I’ll be catching some more and cooking them up. I didn’t think this many people ate them but by sounds of it they must be pretty damn good!

Have you ever fished Ossawinnamakee for walleye?

No I’ve never fished that lake before. I’ve heard of the lake but never fished it. I’m pretty new to the area.

I’ll be fishing the whitefish chain in Crosslake, MN. Maybe trying some of the smaller lakes in the area also if we don’t have much luck on the chain.

Sure is I drove past Trout and that was even open. I live on little pine and that’s been open for a while now. They’re catching some crappies up here too I guess but I haven’t been out yet to try. Work is starting to pick up. Leech lake is pretty clear too. I work up in walker and I didn’t see any ice in walker bay.

I’m happy to see that there’s people out there that are into this show as much as I am. I bet Tony will overcome something huge and ends up happy. I wouldn’t doubt that AJ get’s into trouble or whacked. There will for sure be a big blood war with NY.

Yeah I hauled one about 120 miles. We used a flatbed truck and took the canopy off. It hauled pretty good. It was a lot of work to get it on the truck because there was only two of us. Just strap it down really well and take the canopy off and you should be fine. I’ve also hauled them on snowmobile trailers. good luck.

We vacume pack them. It takes all the air out of the bag and the shrooms shrink down and it takes the moisture out of them. Keep them in a dry cool place. When you want to use them take them out and add water and they go right back to normal. You can put about a pound of them in one little bag.

I had a taxidermist loose one of my bear rugs once. I kept asking him and he said that he was waiting on it from a lady that put the felt on. Finaly I asked for my money back because we both knew it was gone and I got it back on the spot. I would ask for a refund or your mount right now. There’s not much of a tanning process to a bird so don’t let him use that excuse. I’ve never mounted a turkey but I have mounted 2 ducks and a pheasant and it took 5 days for all 3 (and I was a student doing this for the first time!) I can’t imagine a turkey though bigger takes 3yrs.
