Has any one tried the Trilene Transoptic? Supposed to be high vis in UV light.

Here’s the hole in the ice leading to the bones at the
top of the pic. There was a trace of blood around the hole.
Something caught the fish and dragged it out….after it
was out I suppose it could have been fair game for whatever.
Will a mink catch a fish this big?
January 20, 2010 at 7:14 pm #834341My bad……Note to self always carry a ruler for scale.
Nothing gets past this bunch.January 13, 2010 at 6:55 pm #831813Cabela’s has this stand alone unit
Organized Fishing Tackle Utility Rack
And I have considered using the built in storage boxes but
would require cutting into the boat interior to mount them so not sure I want to do that, but it does make for a very
clean look.October 27, 2009 at 2:32 pm #811879I was on P9 this past weekend too. Weeds were still a big problem. Seems like the higher water and flow were moving stuff out of the backwaters. Fish seemed to want to cooperate to the crankbaits I was throwing but most casts came back with salad. It was possible to find slicks of clean water but they were not always where you wanted to fish. The weeds have to end sometime…..they’ve been on the move for 24/7 for quite some time now.
September 18, 2009 at 6:38 pm #805101Taking a camera is a surefire way to not catch anything of note; leaving a camera at the dock has the opposite effect
June 18, 2009 at 4:11 am #784869I was up in the Lansing area last weekend. Quite a few
mayflies had/were hatching. Lots of dead ones on the water creating a good deal of scum. Slack water areas were a bit smelly with decaying mayflies (NOT good for swimming). Water clarity was OK though. Didn’t do well fishing……maybe too much food in the water with the hatch.March 26, 2009 at 8:20 pm #762948Thanks I’ll have to check them out next time I’m up that way. Went to their website and didn’t see them but they
probably don’t list everything.March 19, 2009 at 8:03 pm #760429Lets see that’s 40 million times a million apiece.
According to my calculator that comes out to the
number 4 with 13 zeros behind it = 40 trillion.
I don’t think the current bailouts/stimulus have
gotten that large yet.March 18, 2009 at 6:06 pm #759921As long as you are in a cell coverage area….kinda spotty in places.
March 18, 2009 at 3:25 pm #759844A radio (even a handheld) can be a nice way
to check with the lockmaster to see how long
the wait might be to lock thru.March 13, 2009 at 6:25 pm #755642I just bought an H2Oc from Wade at JollyAnn in the last 30 days and have been playing around with it before heading out on the water. I bought a Navionics chip
to go with it. I did not buy any additional Lowrance mapping software. The base map in the unit with highways etc is not good….very crude, lacking detail. The unit
did get me within +/- 4 ft of a known bench mark so I
have confidence that when I set a waypoint I will be able
to get back to within casting distance of it. That’s what
I bought it for. You are able to do routes and trails with
it….which is basically just navigating from waypoint to waypoint. I don’t think it will do turn by turn directions
with the base mapping, maybe with additional software. I’ve
heard thru other posts that the Lowrance XOG is pretty
good in a vehicle and it will take the Navionics chip but
I didn’t go that route because it didn’t appear to be
WAAS enabled or have a port to attach an external antenna. For what its worth.
February 11, 2009 at 9:13 pm #747286Earlybird,
I too have been researching the handheld GPS topic.
Check out the Outdoor Gear forum. Seems like alot of
folks are using the Lowrance H2Oc unit, which I will probably be getting too. As far as Wisconsin Lake maps, you may have to get a map chip to get you what you want. By the time you have the GPS and the chip it might not be what some people would call cheap; all depends on your priorities. Might be able to find a “used” chip for sale on the classifieds to save some coin.February 9, 2009 at 9:33 pm #746475Unless I’m missing something (not unusual )
the Lakemaster looked good for inland lakes, but
didn’t seem to have border river (Miss R.) stuff.
I was wanting to get depths (bathymetry) and locations
of wingdams on the chip. This seems to indicate
that Navionics is the way to go …..which then limits
you to the type of device that works with their chip,
hence Lowrance.February 9, 2009 at 8:41 pm #746459As usual, this is the right place for the right answers
Guess I’ll just hold off till the new units come out.
I seem to always be buying the end of a model run on just about everything.
Hopefully Navionics comes thru with the micro SD card.
That is the right chip for Miss R, right?June 26, 2007 at 12:38 pm #584257Also, USGS does the majority of stream gauging in Iowa
and most other states. Use the following link to
go to their site(s). Substitute the 2-letter state
abbrev for the state of choiceMay 10, 2007 at 1:32 pm #569950Thanks alot, that should get me started. I remember
fishing some in DeSoto Bay a long time ago when
I was still in grade school.
