I have been itching to get out on the chain. But it is still to unsafe for me to get to some of my favorite spots. I did see an ATV on Bolfling today. Also lots snowmobile tracks on the ice. There is 5-6 inches on some of the more wind protected lakes in the area and that were I will be the next couple of days if the wind is wrong for my hot deer stand.

I was also out over the past week. Cought #’s of walleyes but did worse each day out. Largest for me was a 21″. Kept a few in the 14-16″ range for the pan. No smallies for me although I was concentrating on walleyes. On a side note I tried Grand for walleyes on Saturday a.m. with no luck just a bunch of snake northerns. Jigs and minnows were the ticket for me in 8-30 fow depending on conditions and locations.

The weed bite is just about over. Caught some while using jigging spoons for crappies a while back. I have a next Thursday thrugh Wendnesday off so I should have a good idea of whats is going on. I will be at the St. Croix and Mille lacs too. FULL MOON TIME!!!!!

The fight was fine. Can’t wait till a 60″er comes to the boat. Dave is fun to share the boat with and he’s not afraid to share information about fishing. Money is well spent hiring Dave as a guide.

Well said Brian. While this is my second year chasing flats. I have spent this year learning what makes a spot a good spot. I found that myself along with many others on the river were fishing any snag or hole and any spot on that hole during the wrong time, falling water and full moon phases. Well I am still climbing the learning curve I hope to be on the downward side of it soon. I have sure enjoyed my time on the river this year although very unproductive flathead wise.

Yeh, I am glad we called when we did. It sure came down on the way home. Hopfully we can get into a nice stable weather pattern.

Flats are sure getting a lot of local press time this year. Good job Brian.
