thank you everybody for your condolences, he was a great dog and will not be forgotten by myself or many others for some time to come! he was a privileged dog and was lucky enough to hunt birds in mn wi ia and sd while i have only had a chance to hunt MN. even in his passing he has left me challenges to get out in the field and chase birds into these other states. there will never be a fall i hunt i won’t think of him. thanks again! Drew

use big jointed stick baits…… big fish eat big meals (not always) used to trout fish allot and have many many browns over 20″ up to 28″ all out of small streams 90 percent on a 7″ or bigger jointed stick bait. cant remember exact size #. good luck

They should sue the indians….they ruined the lake.

Not… they did what the MNDNR allowed.

X2 MN DNR’s fault all the way….. allowed too much over harvest for to long now anybody affiliated with the mille lacs economy or recreations will suffer, everyday fisherman, business owners, and yes the native american netters will suffer too. if the harvest limits were kept the same or enlarged by smaller amounts over the years we wouldn’t be in this situation. and guess who sets the harvest rates oh thats right the MN DNR…..

No offense, but it isn’t your place to tell people what they can and can’t catch. That is just like telling people what deer they can and can’t shoot. I think it is wrong. Most of those guys that keep those probably don’t hurt the population anyways.

But it is your place to him what to or not to say ?

Go home and bury your head in the sand !!!!

I would think if Mille Lacs was closed in August that they would go to Winnie again. It’s really too bad what is happening at Mille Lacs.

I’m no river expert, but I bet colville will be open in 3 weeks.

it should be….. but if we keep getting all these single digit nights we are not going to be budging it much but as shallow as the bay is at coville it would only take a few really warm days to do some serious damage to the ice…. as far as the lake goes I’m betting that that will not be open with 30″ still covering most of it.

The tourny is licensed through mn so the would have to launch from a mn landing. That leaves bay point and coville as options, both of which are froze pretty good. Are there any other landings they could use?

you can keep your fingers crossed all you want but with three of the next ten days having lows in the single digits and at least half of those days never getting above freezing…. it is not looking good unless some one takes a chain saw and fire extinguisher to the coville marina/landing lol!

Hey Eric have you herd or seen if coville is thawing at all? if not there are pretty good possibilities of the April tourney being canceled.

winchester super X 3 are great guns look for a “Winchester super X 3 light” its called a light because it will only shoot up to 3″ not 3 1/2″ bringing the price down. i think you could probably get a used one for 500 maybe allot less not for sure though.

I do not have a long drive but would be fine with a later take of to let others from further away get there safely.

I also quit Trout fishing. When you started needing a lawyer to understand the rules. If they would simplify them again, I’d be glad to buy a stamp again.

thats why i quit! and that trout unlimited ran around MN marking every unmarked trout stream there was (non pressured waters fished only by locals)
put strict rules on them mostly catch and release to protect the trout well let me tell you i had three unmarked streams i fished they all three are now catch and release but the funny thing is theres no trout to catch there anymore there all dead or poached………. thanks for nothing trout unlimited……
