My buddy and I are going out on Monday. We are both pretty rookie at river fishing. What kind of areas do you guys look for and target to find hungry fall eyes and sauger?

I’m a rookie to river fishing. Could someone explain to me what banking is? Is it simply fishing near the river banks? If so do you target points and inside turns like a lake?
