    Gonehunting –

36 inch length for storage and flipshack. Also not sure on the parobolic load of the rod taking the bite load vs baitfeeder. Its a very nice rod for many people, just not what i’m looking for right now.

Certainly not trying to talk you into anything, but I have 3 of the snares (2 x 32″ w/ reel seats and 1 x 36″ w/ Sure Grip). All came from Scheel’s, so they are available shorter than 36″.

Also all fish houses must be off on March 1st.

Its not the 7th? Dnr site says 7th below line and 21st above.

I was planning on panfish unless making the trip to LOW.

Doug – you are correct. For 2022, it is March 7 and March 21.

    Lawrence-
Price drop today on the ones I linked above to $7.99 for black – more in line with typical pricing

Pretty tough to beat the reliability of a simple direct vent LP heater, no electrical required, simple gas valve, pilot light keeps things dry during the off season. I do have some bias because my plumbing/HVAC background, but they are a simple and as reliable as one can get.

    Interesting.

My friend’s 2017 Ice Castle has to have the generator running for the furnace to blow out hot air, otherwise it’s cold air.

    You’re saying that’s not right?

Your friend has obviously not addressed the battery issues discussed in the thread from a couple weeks ago….

Check in with both resorts to see what their road system is currently like – I know Red Door was having issues getting roads out to some of the further flats. Haven’t been out of Hunter’s this season, just occupying a bar stool…

Note to self don’t share spots with usmarine0352

Thank God he didn’t mark a spot on the 40+ other flats/bars on the north end of ML toast

And my brother lost a Glock 26. He was not very happy about that one.

Almost happened to a 19 of mine. Had it in a holster on the bed. Grabbed the blanket off the bed and the gun goes flying, landed a few inches from the hole…

Must be a Glock thing! Dang near lost a 19X down the hole the same way Merican Eagle nearly did!

After seeing more than a few cell phones so swimming, I no longer put anything in the chest pockets of my bibs….

Haven’t tried the Zebco Dock Demon, but do use several 36″ Ugly Stik Dock Runners for various applications. $14 at the Walmart. Same deal – chuck the reel and use the rod. Just rigged a few up this evening with Okuma CBF-1000s and 500s for deadstick guest rods for this upcoming weekend. I’m fairly certain there will be a good amount of drinking going on in the house, so will be leaving the JTs, TBs and TUCRs at home!!

In my skid house on Mille Lacs, I use Sufix Rattle Reel V-Coat in 30# (different color on each rattle reel) to a Sampo BB swivel (usually size 2) to 10# Seaguar Blue Label fluoro to a Gamakatsu red #8 or #10 treble.

On Mille Lacs, I saw open water from about midway up the west side to the Wealthwood access when I drove up to Red Door this morning. Only made it as far as Hunter’s this afternoon (go figure) but the ice was in tack. The south side is still locked up as well.

I think he may be referring to the precision noodle.

I’m guessing you are correct. I fish waldos 99% of the time, so my slow mind takes me to that type of rod doah

You’ll love the rod – I have 3 Precisions, along with several other TUCRs. Curious which Scheels you found it in 30”……I’ve been in 3 different stores in the past week, and they only had 28, 32, and 36”. I want a 30” (assuming they come with 5 guides).
As an aside, I think 3-4mm jigs are going to be awfully light on the Precision

Not happening, unless that Elliot is a 2-piece rod!
Just measured an EC case for you, and the longest rod fitting in is 42 1/4”, and you may have to remove the reel to make that happen (depending upon where on the handle it’s mounted)

Picked up 12 BUHW-2 (3 cyl) while at Fleet Farm today. $2.15 or there about….wouldn’t call it a clearance, as their regular price was $2.39.

Odd hearing the comments on fouling – I’ve run a ‘97 90hp Merc on a 19’ tiller since ‘99 and have never had a fouling issue. Certainly not saying it doesn’t happen, but it’s not inherent. From day 1, always non-oxy and always Cabela’s Semi-synthetic (which they no longer have – thanks BPS!). I ran Seafoam for a number of years, then moved to a mix of Mercury products (Don’s cocktail). Not sure if any of that makes any difference….

It’s your truck and your $, but I agree with Stanley – turn it in as a comp claim, which is what it is. No way did a snow pile, even with ice mixed in, cause that. Unless your insurance company absolutely sucks, it won’t effect your rates.
Once repaired, we’ll take the $ you would have spent to Surfside or the Narrows, have a few, and solve most of the world’s problems!

Pretty sure Red Door was going to close their access yesterday or today. Best to call ahead with the warm weather this week. LOTW should be good to go.

A$$hole litterbugs just urine me off. Coming off the mud on ML last weekend my buddy and I filled up two 13 gal kitchen trash bags in less than 4 miles. More went in the sleds. Driving out this weekend – bringing bigger bags!

    Nice, Tyler!
I caught several absolute monster pike out of 11 Mile when I was spending summers in the Springs (in school at CO State) in the late ‘80s.
Your pics and vids always bring back awesome memories of that country – thanks!

Soooo pro view or 12*? I watched a video about the gain adjustment to widen the “cone” with the pro view. Seems nicer but like I said don’t fish much. Normal fishing 12-28 fow.

I would say 12* as well. While some swear by the Pro-View, most swear AT it!

Mathew – If you are in the metro, it wouldn’t hurt to stop in to Vexilar and speak to them about your Tri-Beam (not mentioning your prior correspondence). It may be harder for them to tell you to pound sand to your face….then again, it may not!! I was in there a week or so ago to pick up some odds and ends (fuse holders, charger adapters, etc), and they charged me nothing, and threw in some swag. They are in SW Bloomington, E of 169 a couple miles on Old Shakopee Rd.

Welcome to IDO, and have a great holiday season!

One of my buddies was out there when the crack opened up. They ended up getting help from someone with a flat bottom row boat. They are all ok but still not a fun situation. They had to leave their gear out there because the boat wasn’t big enough.

Guessing that was James and crew from the Red Door making the rescue – I was in there Saturday mid-morning and he mentioned having to get the duck boat out to traverse the open crack. Spent a few hours fishing directly across from the abandoned gear, catching a couple decent walleye. Hope they were/are able to get their gear back.

I faced the same decision earlier this week. For my use (90% skid house on Mille Lacs), I went with the FLX-20 Genz pack. Scheels currently has them for $429 – I price-matched that at Cabela’s (had a few 100 in points I wanted to use), plus got another 5% off per their price-match policy. I then added the $50 Marcum Brute 10AH lithium & charger from Scheels, and will use the included SLA for a spare for a HDS-7 setup. Could probably have done a bit better on price, but you have to pull the trigger eventually!

Don’t see the problem… it is still on sale from Scheels now.

The cork split grip Power Noodle was $80.39 at Cabela’s, $95.99 currently at Scheels, available in 28″ and 32″. Scheels was price-matching the Cabela’s pricing, but for me at least, they verified the pricing on Cabela’s webpage (no longer there). Got me a Fusion (about the only one I didn’t have) at Scheels for $80.39.

Just ordered one last night – a 30″ with straight EVA (would have preferred straight cork, but oh well!). Should go nicely with my 32″ Precision and Fusion.

I’m pretty sure I read the 12.0 battery comes with zero warranty. Anybody know for sure?

That 12aH battery is a 48-11-1812, and will come with a 3 year warranty if purchased through an authorized dealer. See the “Cordless Battery Pack” section:
    https://www.milwaukeetool.com/support/Registration-and-Warranty

That said, I’m unsure what that particular “ad” is for or from – If Facebook marketplace, Craigslist, etc., you are correct…..ZERO warranty!

It appears the only TUCR rod still on the Cabela’s website for back-order (less the Infernos) is the Fusion. If you are wanting one and are near a Scheels that has what you want in stock, they will price match the Cabela’s $80.39 price – just did it this morning in Rochester (down here for a girl’s volleyball tournament). Out the door with 32” Fusion in hand for $80.39 + tax.

I still have a couple Commanders on back-order….guess we’ll see what happens with those….

Thanks for the heads up. How do you go about getting a price match there? Take it to customer service and show them the Cabela’s price?

Took the rod to customer service, the manager verified the price on Cabela’s webpage, and came back and overrode the $119 price to $80.39 with a smile on his face, thanking me for shopping at Scheels…

Had a very similar experience at the Fleet Farm down here this morning as well…got in on the Milwaukee 2804-22 hammer drill combo $100 off with accessory deal, and the little gal at customer service was more than happy to give me another $25 off with coupon code TOOLBOX25 ($25 gift card with $150 purchase of “select” tools, on-line only), although the code will not work on the website. Believe it is more related to Dremel and accessories…

Pretty good morning in my ice fishing world (although we got our butts handed to us in the tournament today)
