Funny how things change when the corp dumped sand and river dredge on the back side of Diamond Island many years ago!!

If they are new and sharp, they work well. Hit some dirt or sand and dull them up, not good. I think any brand would be good. We have a blue colored one, don’t know the brand. Worked really well for over four years cutting spear holes until a buddy let someone else use it, now it does not cut. About 50 bucks plus to resharpen it. D

I would say that this is as the saying goes a “day late and dollar short”. You can change it, all it takes is MONEY, and lots of it!!!!
Our all great and powerful government has pushed for more crop production since the 40’s(about when the study says it started) and paid to drain these wetlands.
The way the farm programs are geared now is for more and higher row crop production. Hay, alfalfa is not a conservation crop, the D9’s and scrapers are the new conservation measures. I have seen it happen, I had hay or alfalfa planted in contour strips and I was penalized for it in the farm programs. The government wanted row crops fence to fence, that is what they paid you for. If corn price drops, that is what they will pay for again.

Sad, isn’t it.

What about stormwater runoff from all the cities and roads dumping water much faster than before?? It all has a bering on water levels. Looks to me alot more conrete and asphalt than there was in the 40’s. And anything they publish is the absolute truth??

Yes it is, we watched them pull it up out of the water yesterday. While they were there two more drove over the bar and watched the salvage crew. I guess because there is no one fishing there it must be a good place to drive.

I live near Zumbrota and usually go to the meetings. Let me know if we can car pool. It will save some on gas. Darrell

We try to set up on a point on the edge of the weeds or inside turn. If there is a river coming into the lake that can be a good spot too. There is an article in the last Minneosta Sportsman about Pike. Darrell
