The Light rail system does not run anywhere in St. Paul yet. They are about to begin construction on the central corridor that will connect St. Paul and MPLS via a rail line on University Ave. but that is of course a few years out.

The other command I like to teach at a young age is “enough”. This has worked well for me with mouthing. It is so natural for pups to do this. But, instead of trying to stop it completely, I manipulate the situation so that when we are rough-housing and rolling around, mouthing is okay, but when “enough” is commanded it needs to cease. This is an easy command to teach. It also works with my lab Boomer. He is incessantly bringing me stuff to through. I command “enough” and have added a crossing of the arms signal (like a “your safe” but not so obnoxious). When this occurs he knows to “get out of my face”. I then have taken the time to train the people in the neighborhood about this and other commands. It makes for a nice time and I don’t need a fence or to chain him up.
I used the same command(enough) with both of my dogs. It works great and translates well to other situations, like barking when the doorbell rings!
I also agree that you should stay far away from an e-collar if you are not a professional. I have seen them turn more than one dog into a nervous, confused mess/ Also, make sure to praise your dog when they do follow commands. Negative reinforcement has its place in establishing dominance but positive reinforcement will go a lot further in establishing respect and obedience.July 18, 2010 at 3:22 pm #887666If you are using a pc try this: http://www.steve.maurer.net/tutorials/XP_tutorials/xp_resize_pics.htm
If you have a Mac you can open the picture in iPhoto. Choose the crop option at the bottom and constrain the image to the size you need.
Good luck.

The 2nd Amendment only guarantees you the right to own and use a gun. It says nothing about the particulars of doing so.
A quick note on the law itself: The MN concealed carry law was very carefully crafted by the people who fought for it, with very careful attention to even minimal bits of language (such as “when retreat is not possible” vs what ours says “when retreat is neither possible nor practical”), and, considering the bajillions of man hours invested, we got a damn fine law.
That’s got nothing to do with the cost.
The supreme court just upheld the right of everyone in the country to own a gun by overturning the restrictions in DC and Chicago. However, being able to own and shoot a gun is a substantially different matter than being allowed to carry one on your person, loaded and close-at-hand, in public. THAT is not a right, that is a privilege.
I don’t think the cost is prohibitive and I believe that, considering the gravity of the choice to carry, it’s enough to make you take the permit seriously. People by nature respect a thing only as much as it cost them to obtain, and I think the cost of the permit reflects that quite well.
I agree that we did get a damn fine law! I gladly paid the $75 for the privilege to carry legally. I think that requiring citizens who wish to carry in public to get a permit is in the best interest of the general population. Imagine what it would be like if we didn’t require training and tests to operate a motor vehicle! I know that driving a car is not a right according to the constitution and that we still have plenty of horrible drivers. How much worse would it be if nobody had to receive some basic form of training/information on traffic laws?!
I think that carrying a firearm should be treated similarly. I’d be scared half to death if any yahoo 18-years old or more in the country could walk around legally packing heat, with no training, as long as they had not yet been convicted of a felony! I’ll bet that many of our law enforcement friends would agree.July 14, 2010 at 11:55 pm #886944Quote:

We have an 800 number for that now.
Thanks, but the site seems to be working as advertised. Besides, when I’m having internet issues I usually call Al Gore and he fixes them straight away

i guess i am different too…… every store has its pros and cons, for one the people i deal with at gander are fishermen and several are very good fishermen and willing too share alot of knowledge, and they do have some good deals and they do have warranties still just have too ask questions too make sure you are getting the best deal you can.
I guess that’s the issue exactly, I asked the questions and was given false info. I’m sure that there are plenty of great employees who are willing to share knowledge at various Gander stores. Unfortunately, the two stores that I went to that didn’t seem to be the case in the fishing department. The other issue is customer service. I went to the store in person and was sent out the door with an 800 number. Calling an 800 number that is answered by someone half way across the country and then sent directly to a recorded message about how your problem will not be fixed in a way that is satisfactory just doesn’t cut it.July 14, 2010 at 8:46 pm #886898I hope to gain some good insight into catching fish as well. I have since been to Thorne Bros. and was extremely impressed with every aspect of their operation. I’m officially done with big box stores. If anyone has suggestions of other shops in the NW Metro I’m all ears.
