Usually, when they say “single hook,” that means ONE POINT, and doen’t cover trebles. Manitoba requires a single, barbless hook. A pinched barb meets the standard. I fly-fish and don’t think I’ve ever lost a toothy critter because on barbless hooks, and it makes release a lot simpler.
As an afterthought, I’ll send anyone who wants to join me in the NWT a free copy of my book, TOOTHY CRITTERS LOVE FLIES. Might even throw in a few of my favorite streamers. Blatent bribery to get some company. My usual fishing buddies are all commited for this year.
He is a good one. I would say he is a 2.5 year old. I think he looks light bodied and young in the face. Nobody believes me when I say this but a few years back my dad shot a nice one that scored 167 that the dnr aged him at 2.5 when they looked at the bottom jaw.
Man you guys are beating me up BAD Considering I have achieved my PB with my BFFF (personal best with my best fishing friend forever ) I have to say this one was awesome. I was sitting on the couch Sunday and called Dan to see how his morning guide trip went. I was out Saturday and got some eaters, but no sows !!!! Anyway I drove down and met a rain soaked River Dan at Dean’s. The picture says the rest………….Love fishing with Dan, not only one of the best sticks on the river but one HECK of a net man to boot.
todders you want a quality mineral with a 2 to 1 ratio of Calcium to Phosphorous, not more than 25% salt, with vitamins, and I wouldn’t put out anything that does not have selenium.
This is a great idea. I would cut one for the deer and one for you. Try planting a food plot seed that is shade tollerant on the one for the deer to help keep them on that one.
Bob that is a great way to get pics of all the deer coming in. Plus you get to see everything that is on there head. I also like Pats idea of putting one on video.
With no brow tines it sounds like genetics. We had a problem with short brow tines where we hunted. I started mixing our own blend of minerals and have noticed a huge difference in the last few years. Now we have a number of bucks with brows 6 inches and up, plus split brows, stickers and kickers which we never saw before.
