and…”can I shoot that one too?” She is definitely a Pearson!
Awesome! Just doesn’t get any better than that! Reminds me of Dannir’s first harvest on video!
Sold my Rage 3 blades this year and went back to fixed blade. Shot 3 deer last year with the Rage 3 blade. All were complete pass thru. No blood. Exit hole was plugged with insides on all 3 deer. First deer had a fist size glob of guts plugging the hole with little to no blood…this was a quarter to shot which took out lung liver guts. The last deer was shot thru liver lung with the exit hole plugged with half the lung hanging out plugging the hole. I have never seen anything like that before. Again very little blood but was lucky I had snow on the ground to track her. My guess is that the heads punched thru the deer instead of slicing which caused the heads to pull the insides out.

That was pretty amazing as I would never have thought that a ‘licking branch’ could be so high> Guess only the ‘big and tall’ men get to hit that branch>those are the ones we’re looking for

Several of the licking branches at my place are about 7 foot off the ground. When that happens you know you have a good one around. Nice video Bob!

Love the pics Dan Good luck to you and Dannir if she can stay awake

She is still mad at me Looking forward to next week…should be a good one. Her and I are headed to Thorp tomorrow and will be back to hunt these bucks next week if she can’t score this week.

I have had several double lung shots with the shock waves that had an exit hole no bigger than my thumb
I picked up some barnes and some hornaday 250’s and some imr white hots. Going to try them out on paper tonight

I have shot several deer with the shockwaves…all double lung and one heart shot. All were complete pass thru, exit hole same size as entry with little to no blood. Granted the deer (all does) didn’t go too far (the farthest one went 60 yards) I don’t want to lose a deer because there is no blood trail.
Just picked up some Hornady XTP 185 gr bullets in 45 cal and will use them with the 50 cal Thompson Center Super glide sabots. Will give a report later in the season on their accuracy and knock down power. A guy from Scheels has been using this setup for years.
That’s what I’ve been waiting for! Great video! Glad it’s working…how big of a pond are you going to put in next year?
That Big-n-beasty plot on the power line is looking pretty good! You have quite the groceries for your deer and turkeys!

Pretty much agree with everything that has been said so far except one thing. Not ALL fixed blade kills result in 100-200 yard blood trails.

I have had plenty of animals die within sight shooting fixed blade heads just as I have using expandable heads.

Just last year I killed 2 deer with the same brand head (expandable). Everything was almost identical, treestand height, how far the deer was and shoot placement. Both died within 100 yards, one bleed like a stuck pig and the other hardly bleed at all.
Most important thing is to make sure the head is sharp and bow is tuned to that particular head.
Good luck on your journey!

X2…I have had several deer die within 10 – 30 yards using fixed blades. I also have had several deer go several hundred yards on high percentage shots using mechanical heads. This topic comes up several times during each season and the best advice is go with what you are confident in shooting.
Here are a couple pics from a stand I have sitting on the edge of my bean and corn field. I have clover and brassica planted around the edges of the field too! Can’t wait for the opener!
Last pic is one of many stands I have on the edge of the field and kill plots so I can play the wind. All are buried in pines like this one.
Here are some updated pics of the kill plot.
The deer continue the hammer the mineral site as you can see. This spot started out to be about 3′ X 3′ this past spring. Started using a new mineral in April and it is now larger than the hood on my truck!

#1 Muzzy’s are not a “Cut on Contact” heads. They have a bone crushing Trocar tip that punctures the hide before the blades start cutting.
Muzzy does make a couple true cut on impact heads.
My Rage broadheads are up to $40 on ebay! Going back to fixed broadheads!
