DAMNIT SCOTT, I just sold an old one….I could have used that for new tandem I get this fall, that is a genius idea.
Dan, if you could I would like to see that one in action if you could take a video of it working in real life in a real situation.
. YouTube has a bunch of videos on it.

That trailer valet looks like a pretty serious piece of equipment Dan J. Does it stay on the trailer permanently or is it removable? Would be very interested to hear how it works out for you.
. There is a bracket that bolts on the trailer frame and a pin that holds it on the bracket. I’m not planning on leaving it on the trailer. Don’t think it would be on the trailer when you went to load your boat at the ramp. I plan to leave the trailer jack that came with the trailer on and mount the bracket on the other side. The Trailer Valet weighs 45 lbs. and cost $300.00 . Don’t know if I can give the web site. I have a Pacemaker and spinal fusion so it’s hard for me to get the 17 ft. With a 115 Yamaha 4 stroke in the garage by myself. I have a garage on the alley with a telephone pole so I have to make a sharp 90 to get it in the garage.
I have 1 of those Dolly’s up in the rafters of the garage. Was not to impresses with it. The tires almost came off the rims if you turn it real tite. It also takes a lot of horse power to move it up an incline and to stop going down hill. With solid rubber tires and a better axle it might work pretty good. I’m checking out the Trailer Valet right now. UPS just dropped one off. Will post when I get it on the trailer.
The only reson to raise it would be thick weeds or shallow rocks or dead heads you didn’t want to hit with your lower unit. Leaving it down acts as a rudder and can really help in the wind or current.
If it was me I’d just go down to Everts fish off the dock and have Brian bring down some hot spam for lunch.
You should replace both upper and lower gaskets each time you change it.
I’ll see if I can find a picture of it. I mounted a Elite 4 on the back and wired it into the power cord for the FL 28. Also went with a 10 amp Lithium Ion battery. On the Ultra PAC the whole thing is maybe 5 lbs. The nice part is you can put the gps on standby or turn it off to save the battery. Set up like this it fits in a 5 gal. Bucket. It’s lite enough to carry when your walking out.
Same thing happened with Lowrance HDS. They said it would always be upgradeable. It only took 2 years and they came out with the HDS 2 and after that only a few software fixes. MarCums are good, so are Vex and Birds , don’t kid yourself nothing last forever.
Don’t think you can do that with the Elite 4. There is no power from theTerova transducer and no way to remove the transducer on the 4. You need a unit with a separate power cable and transducer.
Lithium batteries are great. I have been using a 10 amp. for a couple years. The downside is that they will read full charge until they are completely discharged. A 10 amp will run a 1 amp drain for 10 hours, 4 amp 4 hours and so on. The big advantage is light weight and fast recharge. You also need a smart charger made for Lithium Ion batteries. A regular charger will shorten the battery life. The good Lithiums have a built in charging circuit to protect them. I didn’t know that when I got mine so I ended up spending another $50.00 for a charger. K2 makes them with the charging circuit built in so you can use any charger.
I have 2 of the Ice Hopper Extreme straight line reels. They are the same design $39.00. I really like them for the price, can’t see the $170.00 price tag.
All he lost was his DOG!!! What kind of a statement is that? Maybe next time it will only be his son. Any loss of life because of stupid judgment is a crime.
I have this battery and it has the Energy Managment System built in so that you can use any 12 volt charger. They make a cheaper one without it that you would need the Smart charger for.
Stopped by Owasso this morning, lots of dead fish. The DNR was there so I talked to them, they were taking oxygen readings and got 10.5 parts per million which was good. The guys I talked to didn’t think it was lack of oxygen. There sure are a lot of nice GREEN lawns right down to the waters edge, not much of a buffer zone.
I took a look at their web site. The green 12 volts are K2. As I said earlier I’ve been using the 10 amp for 2 years with great results. Their prices are a little high. If you look on Amazon you can get the same one for $179.95 plus $7.00 shipping and no sales tax. $184.95 and save your self $84.00.
I have been using a K2 Lithium Phosphate 12 volt 10 amp for 2 years. I paid $130.00 plus shipping. It is the same size as a 7 amp but only 2.5 lbs. and is good for 2000 charges., holds a charge all summer. Cold doesn’t seem to affect it. They charge very fast, 2 hours. The only thing I found negative was when they go dead there is no warning. I run my locator,Gps and LED shack light all day with plenty of juice left.
As you drill with a Nils kick the shavings away from one side of the hole as you drill. Then give it some gas as you back the auger out. The shavings will flow to that side and not back down the hole. The fliting on the Nils is a little narrower than the cutting head.
I have 3 Razors and love them. The only drawback is spool over run if you don’t set the drag right. They have a good drag system and the drag knob stays where you put it.I have had the line get behind the spool a few times in the wind, but that happens with any spool reel. They do not have a free spool like the EC or 6061 so in a shack you need a lot of head room or a short rod to let line out fast.To me they are worth the money,no line twist and 12″ line pickup per crank.I only use them for panfish but have landed many northens and bass on powernoodles with them.I’m working on a way to encase the spool so the line won’t get behind it.
That not a dumb question, You set the auger cutting end on it and just push down. There is a video on there web site that shows how to put it on and take it off. There is a small learning curve but once you fiqure it out it’s real easy. coldsnap.
In all fairness the Nils leaves more slush in the the hole, but not as much as most think. It’s got to do with the size of the fliting. On the Nils it is about 1/2″ smaller than the cutting head.I actually like a little slush in my hole. It cuts down on light penitration in shallow water. I almost never use a scoop unless I plan on fishing that hole for a long time. If you kick the cuttings away from your hole before you back your auger out and give it a little gas it will clean it out pretty good.
I wouldn’t break in a new motor with Amsoil. You need to seat the moving parts. I would use a good 2 stroke oil and mix the first gallon of gas 50/1. Once it’s broke in then switch to Amsoil 100/1. Check the Amsoil web site and see what they say if your not sure.
I mixed the first gallon of gas 50/1 regular 2 stroke oil to break it in. That will last you a whole season. Then I went to Amsoil Sabre 100/1 and never looked back. As for gas don’t use E85.
Ice build up is the main cause of that. Or it could be
improper pitch. The Nils is a shaver works on speed not torgue to cut. Hard to believe you could have 2 bad cutting heads at the same time but it is possible. That thing should pull it’s self down the hole with very little pressure from you.
They do not have a chipper blade. The power point is a shaver blade just like the non power point. As I said above you really don’t need a power point. As far as cutting they are the same. Ice build up is greater in the power point and it cost more. All Nils cut without wandering and you need very very little downward presure to cut.Watch out for sand or anything that isn’t supposed to be in the ice.As with any shaver blade by any brand this will dull them faster than anything and you will be sending them to Frank.
I have 2 (8″) non power points and 1 power point. I like the non power point much better. The power point really dosen’t help unless your drilling old holes which I wouldn’t do anyways because of the shaver blades. The non power point wont ice up as much. I wax the auger fliting and spray the cutting head with pam if its real cold out to keep the ice build up down. Also when you mount the auger to the power head make sure you face the flat side to the bolt head so it seats against it.Mine wobbles if I face the round side to the bolt head. I wrap some electrical tape around the bolt and nut so they don’t come loose. Just a few tips, hope they help.
Ordered it last week and it came today. $24.99. Check thier web site, don’t know if I can post it here. Best thing I ever got for my Nils. You will love that auger. If you need sharpening get a hold of Surface Tension, Frank is the best at sharpining those blades. I haven’t sent any to him yet but have used some that he did and do they cut. Good luck with your new Nils. You might want to run 50/1 the first tank and then switch to Amsoil Sabre 100/1.
