I had a buddy who puts his grill grate ontop of that starter in the grill and before dumping the coals he sears the steaks on both sides. Once seared dump lump charcoal into grill for final roasting minutes.
January 9, 2012 at 8:44 pm #1026163When I heard Tebow passed for a touchdown to win the game yesterday I was surprised it wasnt a “Hail Mary”
December 25, 2011 at 1:57 pm #1021335I am waiting for Chris and James to give this kind of report. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xb4lc2bZBEg

My barter offer is still open if you want to take me up on it.
You come to work with me for a couple of days and in return I will go to work with you for a couple days.
I am sure the guys on here will assure you that would be a great trade agreement. This offer wont be good forever so you may consider jumping on it in the next 30-40 years.December 23, 2011 at 3:02 am #1020641BrianK and Bambino I could not agree more. We had a group there on the 17th and 18th and it was nothing short of a first class experience. We caught many pike, and some walleye that were perfect eaters.
You could see the frustration Chris had in knowing where we were and where he wanted us to be. But with the curveball mother nature had thrown our way he made safety the priority and we thank him for that.
As a group we have already decided to lock down the dates for the same time period in 2012 and guys if you get the chance to go with Chris you wont regret it. Worth every penny!!!
November 25, 2011 at 2:41 am #1011911I didnt specifically notice the landing at Wealthwood but I did take notice that most of the North end had 10-20 yards of ice/slush build up. I drove the north end from Malmo to 169 around noon today.
October 9, 2011 at 4:55 pm #1000212Apparently 5 of them left Cove Bay heading for Malmo in solid 30-40 mph winds. From what I have heard they thought they were experinced from Lake Superior however in my opinion on Mille Lacs we see a different wave more chop and cap not so much swell.
June 19, 2011 at 1:25 pm #974312It may be helpful to know if you went the service road or whistle road through the cabins. Going out to truck now.
June 19, 2011 at 1:17 pm #974311I am at Big Point and heading for Brainerd. I will do a drive through for you. Call me if you wish. My phone is dead but once in my truck you can try me. I am Dave at 763-286-6551 and will be in truck by 9am
May 12, 2011 at 1:35 am #965426Thanks for the update!! I never did hear back from them in regards to a net marker I found on my shoreline so I had nothing to update for phone numbers.

Scott Fitzgerald 320-684-2440 Malmo
These are the five Conservation Officers on Milac’s Lake Area.
I tried the original number for Scott to report a net marker I found on my shore. I found that number to be incorrect and called another CO and was given another number but I have not been able to confirm that is a good number yet. I will post when I get it.
May 6, 2011 at 3:12 am #963832I am an Egg head here. I love my Big Green egg. Now I know it is not the most economical upfront however I believe in little time you can save your money in charcoal vs other grill/smokers that are out there.
My egg gives me the ability to smoke at 180 or sear at 800. I find that to be a huge benefit. I have never had as satisfying results as I have had with this unit. I routinely cook a variety of items from banana bread to pizza and it has guaranteed me a spot on most fishing trips for the ribs .
April 26, 2011 at 3:10 am #960552Awesome!! Thanks for the tips. I look forward to meeting you on the June Rainy trip. By then I should have some experience with it and probably a ton of questions.
April 26, 2011 at 2:39 am #960532Unfortunately I see them netting and spearing every year and it seems they are hitting the point harder each time. It is probably no coincidence that the DNR put a new landing in within a mile of my place. Unfortunately there is not much I can do about it.
April 26, 2011 at 1:44 am #960494Chris,
This winter I purchased a used boat that has a Hummingbird with side imaging in it. I have not had a chance to use it yet but was wondering what was probably your top need to know item about it that gave you the better understanding of how to implement it successfully?April 24, 2011 at 3:35 pm #960141I was at my place at Big Point last night and I turned a light on from my boat house and you could see ol’ marble eyes glowing on the rocks. Probably coule see a half a dozen sets of eyes. We have about 50 yarrds of open water in front of our place now depending on the wind direction. Had a wind change yesterday that took the ice that had been to shore away from shore and slid it to the north. It wont be long now.
April 22, 2011 at 3:33 am #959638Ecnook…. Where on Mille Lacs will you be staying. I live near Big Point on Mille Lacs and will be on the Rainy trip in June with you. It would be fun to meet if it works out.
April 20, 2011 at 9:39 pm #959147I know its another big ticket purchase but the elite is pretty darn nice. I have had mine since the sports show and have been able to do a fair amount of research before my June Rainy trip. FYI each chip has an Elite version. If you want to research your Rainy chip you must have The Woods/Rainy version of elite. Same with Minnesota Elite for Minnesota chip etc.
March 25, 2011 at 3:08 am #950510I agree. Spend the money on the Riggin rod where sensitivity is more important.
March 22, 2011 at 10:33 am #949456I have been there and done that. My spark plug change on my 04′ ran about $1,200. The shop did not need to take the heads off to extract any debris. It was a design flaw that is causing them to cease. I am to understand they redisgned the plug.
For me fixing with a bowtie was not an option after they drank the Kool Aid and became Government Motors.
Good Luck
March 22, 2011 at 3:19 am #949440I think just about any Walmart, Costco, or Best Buy will have what you need.
March 22, 2011 at 1:55 am #949419I have two with honda engines for business and never a problem with either one. One is a North Star by Northern Hydraulics and not sure the brand on the other. Both have siphoning tube to mix chemicals and work great for a variety of uses.
March 22, 2011 at 12:41 am #949371I have a keel guard on my boat. My area of concern is where the nose trailer roller hits the bow at the hook. I am wondering if anyone else has any experience with this issue before I purchase one. I just purchased this Ranger and see that it has some scraping happening from that nose wheel.
Thanks
