Power Pro in hi-vis yellow. Best braid I have used. Size, 2lb/10lb strength. Been using it 2 years. LOTS better than Fireline IMO. <*)}}}><

How thick does the ice get in that part of Kansas? Those are sweet crappies and they should be sweeter through a hole.

    Good fishin’

Most years it doesn’t freeze over. Last year it did but less than 3in. To far south for ‘water walking’ <*)}}}><

Those 2 were over 16in. Weight was 2.80,,,each. Fished standing timber with Yum Beaver tails, brown/chartruse with a 1/8oz red Crappie Pro head. Was in 10ft of water fishing 6ft down. I cleaned 26 over 12 inches for that day. Had several more in the 14 to 15in range. Will be hitting that lake this winter before it freezes over. Remember,,,,I don’t ice-fish <*)}}}><

Call Linda Colt at Lowrance. 918-438-8747 She is the GURU of Lowrance. To do a ‘hard reset’, unit must be off, hold both zoom keys in & power key. Units map will appear. Everything (way points) will be gone! You should save them before hard setting. <*)}}}><

I have one on my Alumacraft Bay Invader w/150 optimax. My speed was 3.2mph without one. Slowed me down to .9mph. The Opti will idle for a LONG time without fouling plugs. Most big hp engines WON’T. I also have givin up on the rope release. Just broke too many pins trying to get it to the up position. I do it manualy now. It will bring you up on plane quickly. I don’t pull cranks for crappies often enough to justify a kicker. <*)}}}><

I’ve asked this question before and got this answer. The line is translucent and will blend to be invisable after about 3ft. The red hooks are reflective and is more visable as long as there light to reflect. <*)}}}><

Bill, most were using jigs on both days. The fish I seen being cleaned after Sunday’s weigh-in, were full of shad. The most popular jig was a 1/8oz with a blue/chartruse body. Some sent was added as a Berkly Crappie nibble or a paste such as Mega-strike. Vertical jigging was the trick and deep into the brush-piles. On the rip-rap rocks, the jig had to touch the rocks and lift. Depths were ranging from 12 to 18ft. Since I wasn’t fishing it ,,,not many minners died trying <*)}}}><

Yea, those Southern boys couldn’t fish with just 1 pole & 1 jig. If they don’t have out 8 poles with 16 jigs on them, they are lost. I’ll have to join them but,,,I like to feel the bite!! <*)}}}><

Jason, you just can’t believe how much I have learned from bassers about catching BIG crappies. All of ya have a ‘big crappie’ story. Now if I could just get bass tourneys to use minners,,,,, look out KVD, this crappy fisher would give you a run-for-the $$$$ <*)}}}><

Yes, the winter of ’92 was the best that lake has ever been. Must of been 10s of thousands taken out. It has suffered ever since. The floods of ’93 and again in 95 hurt it too. They have done some serious work getting some shallow cover back in the last 3 years and lowered the creel limit to 20. It is on the rebound and should produce those sizes again. Very busy lake in the summer with skiers and ‘lake lice’. Glad to see them gone for a while. I have a summer tactic that has produced some of the largest crappies I have ever taken in the hottest of temps. 3 weeks ago I was filmed on the Mid-West Crappie TV show hosted by Russ Baily showing just how I do it. It will show on the Sportsman Chanel in late Feb. or early March. Be sure to check it out!! <*)}}}><

Thanks for the welcome fishers. I hope I can convert most of you to my world of Crappy fishin As for some of the questions,,lake temps are dropping fast from the upper 80’s now to the lower 70’s. Bites are improving and the white bass are moving into the trees. Greg,,, are there any crappies left in Lovewell?? From what I have heard,,,you Northerns took them all out!! Heh! Heh! Heh! <*)}}}><
