I’m starting to do what a lot of bass fisherman do. Cover the 12 or so inches up from the hook with a black Sharpie.
Just eliminates one more thing not to think about.

A couple of Green Hornet rods and you’ll be all set.
    Good Luck

So far the 9 Led flash light, from Office Depot, is working the best on lighting these plastics up.
Have tried the “Pop It” Light and a battery powered camera strobe light but the LED still beats ’em.
What are you folks having luck with?

She who must be obeyed and I had been married only a couple of years.
I had learned to play golf the year before we tied the knot and bless her heart she let me continue to play. Around August of our second year of marriage I misplaced my wedding ring.
Did the same thing, tried to think of every place it could be and went there looked there, etc. Prayed to the Patron Saint of Lost Things. Was shear agony, and was getting looks that would turn most men to stone.
This went on till next spring. Was getting ready to hit the links again and gave the golf bag a thorough cleaning. Um, what’s that strange thing at the bottom of the ball compartment? Whew, it’s back
    God Bless, St Anthony!

Ace hardware has surgical type tubing in several sizes. Other hardware stores may have it to.
You might also check out a motorcycle or lawn mower repair shop to see if they can help.
If you like it I would try to fix it. Saves money for other goodies.
    Good luck,

    Chris,
Are these in the website yet or is it pretty much a call in order for now?
    Thanks,

    John,
Th gearing is 1::1. I will fish 30 ft. on occasion but more often 8 to 20 ft. Would think 80 ft. is better suited to a spinning reel.
The big thing with the fly reel is it really eliminates line twist. So those of us that have been using the smaller ice spinning reels where line twist can be a hastle, have an option that cam get us away from that.
    Good luck,
    John

    Cpetey,
I know the Cabin won’t fit snugly in my Land Cruiser so have been toying with just making a ramp to slide it in on. With the nose in first it shouldn’t take too much ramp height for it to clear the folded down seats and get a good fit.
Sounds like you’re in for a fun day. Good luck

Yup, a good stand alone light is huge. Heater, small shovel, food and thermos.

    Chris,

I love my little Strike Master Sled but it has a nasty habit of spitting a rod out of the holders every so often. It has trained me to look back every so often to see what might be laying on the ice. That habit saved me my Okuma and a St Croix Legend on Wed.

You’ll be replaying it’s whereabouts for a while. Maybe a light will turn on as to where it could be.

I know the feeling and it does suck.

    Jesse,
I have the Fish Trap Pro and built some snow runners for it this fall-see pic. The addition of the hydrafax runners didn’t help much; neither did spraying the bottom with silicone. The new runners will be an improvement but we’ll have to see how the aluminum conduit holds up. The runners were a gift and were designed for the Hammerhead sleds.
A tub is a tub and they just resist deep snow.. There may not be as much gain as you hope for though there will surely be some in going smaller.
There are a fair number of mod.s out there that you can google to get your shelter up off the snow. That’s where I found the ideas for mine.
    Good luck,
    John

    Red89,
Both Scheels in Coralville and Fin and Feather have them in our Iowa City area. But Thorne carries them too. The combo seems to be a pretty good deal. The reel is nice enough, I like the way the handle can fold out of the way easily.
The combo would help to offset the thought of shipping costs.

    I have a 96 Land Cruiser.
Curious about the two different sleds, interesting.

Nice. I have a SUV that the Pro will fit in sideways.
To put the Medium Otter in it will have to go lengthways and I’ve got 61 inches to play with. After that it may want to slide up on the folded down seat. So a couple inches here and there can make it a go or no go.
The dealers here in town either carry Frabill or Clam so can’t just go try one on.

Lighter jigs and line curl is what brought me to the fly reels.
Okuma offers a reel similar to the Cortland Procast, theirs is the SLV, 2/3.
    I like both.
The Fly Depot will include backing and a leader with the purchase price, though I don’t think they carry that particular Okuma
    Good luck,

    Interesting thread.
I took my Office Depot 9 LED flash light to the local Sporting Goods store and “charged” a number of packages of Gill Pills and Diamond Jigs and found about half to be bright red and half to be not so bright.
They were checked from inside a Frabill Ice hut.
Not complaining just offering this info as a way to be sure you’re getting the brighter red.
    BTW I also charged 4 packages of each(sizes 10 & 12) to my Cabela’s card.
    Thanks for the heads up.

    Bone Mover,
I had the same problem with my Pro and called Clam to see what could be done.
They sent a new set of buttoms to me that are much easier to work.
Have also seen the new clip dealies that can be used to push on the buttons but have no need for them now.

You can use the split screen graph over side imaging. The graph will show structure slightly before it comes up on the side imaging: when that happens I do get close to the screen to see whats’ coming.
Also the ability to record allows you to review at home what you saw on the water. The GPS marks plus the route/trail paths let you redo your day as many times and ways as you wish.
I consider the 798CI SI a great value. Sure I’d like to have a 900 or 1100 series but for now the 798 will get me way ahead of where I was in getting to know my lakes

    Ted,
I’m going to try a thing called “The Rod handler” this year.
I found mine on the internet through The Moose Bay Trading Company. Fits into a 5 gal pail. Will carry 5 rods in the Fish Trap Pro and hopefully will keep them from getting tangled.
    Good luck,
    John

Somebody else chime in on this that knows for sure, but I think the rod stays the same. Only the spring bobber is different.
I used the ML last year and really liked it. Have thought about picking up the UL just to see how it works but haven’t done so yet.

    Tom P,
Good to know. The store that has the 7 did not offer much in the way of a savings. Going back tomorrow as the more knowledgeable sales person was out today. Would just like to see if out of the box as well as learn a little more.
Did notice that the 8 accepts two cards(right term?) which may be part of what you are referring to.
Your info helps me a lot.
Thanks for taking the time to get back to me.
    John
