The best advice I can give you is get an old coffe pot and put some old pork or somthing like that in it and punch a few holes in it and stick a rock in it and tie a rope around it and throw it into the pond.

x2! we trapped over 300 leeches last year with that method. This is with the perfect pond, so give or take a few, but trapping leeches is well worth it

this brings up a good point. My motor does smoke a lot when it is first started, like most motors. But this motor smokes a little out of the norm in my opinion. Is it because i have to much oil in the tank at once, or what other reasons could there be?
    THanks for the help guys

Yes, the water is not near warm enough to spawn but they are in the shallow water for sure.

Not true about all lakes. Lake onalaska here in lacrosse is warming up and even if you go into th way backwaters of the ol’ miss the water temp is 60 way back in shallow, sandy or timber bays. We have been catching males that are gettin beds ready for the females. Spawn around this area will happen in 2 weeks if weather doesnt turn better! The crappies in the picture prove my point correct. Just dont keep too many or keep just enough to eat. These fish are precious to th future fishery

Yes, if you use the upper landing. Fishing was slow today. Lotsa dinks, but maybe with a shining sun tomorrow things might heat up

Pool 8 might benefit from something like this. There are soo many small walleyes(9-12in) and if maybe somehow we could come up with a way to protect the bigger fish (19-30) then the sizes of small an bigfish would level out. There are tons of small walleyes on pool 8 but there are also many 21,22,23in that are kept simply becausethey cant keep a walleye under 15in to begin with. THROW THOSE FIH BACK! If wecould have a slot on those fish that would help out with the trophy and quality of fish on pool 8. For saugers, maybe it would help but there are more sauger than walleyes right now IMO. It wouldnt hurt to make a slot on saugers for fish over 14 or 15 to be kept just like the walleye rule. Most people keep 10,l1,12in saugers because they cant catch enough eater sized walleyes over the slot size right now of 15in.

I like the idea of being able to automatically send a picture of your fish to the tournament directing station and then being able to let it go!

Upper landing at dresbach is becoming limited but there still are people launching out of there. The lower landing is still iced up

Get a passport, have a clean record, and be ready to answer questions. Sometimes when we cross at I-Falls the border patrols there are complete A$$ holes. If youre nice and 100% legal, there will be no worries! Hopefully you can get some fish then!!

Fishing there is very slow! I was there a few days ago and got one 7in crappie in about 3hrs of fishing. The ice is very safe yet. They also seined just down from that area and there are some monster cats and sheephead in there!

17 untouched areas huh? Expect PM’s then you are part of team IDO!

Thats what happens when you dont fish areas where youve seen people. I cant stand people who see a guy fishing somewhere by themselves so they go fish it. Dont be lazy when your fishing!! Thats the main reason why I’ve had so much success. I put three fish on the wall this winter. Why? Because i found my spots, used a GPS to locate points, humps, etc.. and presented the right presentation to the fish. NOw of course, not all 17 spots were right here on pool 8, but 9 of them were. 4 Were on bodies of water up north in Canada and Northern Minnesota

Well, good start…I am a packers fan! But anyways, im from pool 8. I was born and raised in the lovely northwoods up in international falls mn. Personally, thats why i believe fishing and hunting is my passion. I always fish rainy river or lotw all year round when time allows and am not busy with workk or school. My dad lives in virginia, mn so its pretty easy for me to get connections with people and reports up north. I also do at least three lake trout ice fishing trips each year in canada and that is by far my favorite thing! In fact, im going there next week wednesday for the trout!! At age 8, i moved to La Crosse WI. Since then, i have learned pool 8 at too well. I have fished pool 8 or any body of water around pool 8 every ice fishable weekend so far. So in short terms, my winter season is spent on ice and i can never get enough. I am the search and explore kind of guy and think that you should work for what you deserve. I have discovered 17 places this ice season where i have caught perch, walleyes, gills, northerns, bass, and white bass where no one has ever stepped foot. After winter, I will be on Rainy River near April-May eye fishing. Then i will be in the woods turkey hunting. Although, this year might be different because i dont have land to hunt. If any of you guys have land, i would be willing to do some spring/summer work in order for me to hunt your land and harvest mature whitetails. So, Im Cody Croteau and all i do is fish or hunt. my dream in the future is to become a full time guide in canada or have my own guide service. Fishing is my passion and hunting is a clooooooose second! Anyways, thats a little about me. my life has been an adventure and im looking forward to fishing new areas all the time! Thanks, Cody
