You guys are nuts. 4.5 to 5 lbs max. Methinks you all need new scales. Here’s a fat 20.75 incher that weighed in at 4 lbs.

I’ve got the 798 Ci SI with the internal GPS and it works great. No problems with getting a fix. Only complaint is that the word/numbers are super small on the screen but compared to paying for the big screen, I’m very happy.

It was my first time up and we ended up in a merry-go-round of boats near garrison fishing 6-11 feet of water. We only landed about 7 fish. Bent lip Shap raps in crawfish and of course the firetiger did the best (until some yahoo cut behind out boat and severed our lines…thanks). I learned a lot but I think the most important lesson I learned outside of avoiding other nimrods is that you have to know the waters. You need to have a plan on a few spots at least. We got stuck in the same area because that is all we knew.

I’m going to try some smaller lakes this weekend and see what I can find out.

That’s good advice Scott. Thanks! Hot Chocolate and cheeseburgers always help!

Any thoughs on bait? We’ll be bobber fishing as she thinks bobbers are pretty cool.

Would anyone be willing to share some tips and maybe a spot or two in private? I’m taking my daughter up to mille lacs this weekend and I’ve never fished it. She is just under 4 years old and loves to fish but we’ve been skunked the last few times and I want to keep her interest high. I’d really appreciate it!

We launched out of the flooded 494 ramp during high water and it was fine. It was a bit shallow but the fishing dock area created a nice buffer from the current. Take it slow and there shouldn’t be a problem.

When we went, only about an inch of the railings were visible. Actually, they looked like parking barriers and the launch doc was completely jacked with a good sized stack of logs and debris braced up against it.

People did look at us rather funny…
