Are the shadlings the same as Grapler shads. They look identical. If so are they going to come out with jointed shadlings like grapler did? They where the best ones.
They are not, there is different look to them if you put them side by side…different molds obviously.
Yeah, totally different paint and paint schemes, not to mentions the shadlings run true out of the box.
September 3, 2011 at 5:20 am #992766A 1000 years ago, if a man was seen beating a barren desolate field with a stick they would have burned him for witchcraft…now its a sport…
Although the one nice thing about golf courses, I get to kill a ton of geese off them…legally too.
September 3, 2011 at 5:17 am #992765The rocker’s have had a ton of success out west on the rivers for steelhead. You can run em to 6.0 mph without em blowing out on ya. They just so happen to fit that “small crank” bite on leadcore in the months of July and August on a lot of lakes.
They certainly are another tool in the tool box to carry for the walleye guys.
The number 5 rockers have been a great bait to troll as well for pike…Yet, one of the guys I fish with fairly often does much better on lead for walleyes with the 5’s than 3’s. Go figure.
The shadling was a super bait last fall for me. 85 feet of line out the back with mono and steady pull sweeps of the rod and hang on.
Wow, sorry for all the posts just easier to address the posts one at a time…

I still have a bunch of them grappler shads! I think mine are like 7 or 8 years old. I bought em when I worked at Sportsman’s warehouse way back in the day!

Does the river rocker swim similar to a Salmo Hornet? They look to be a similar size and shape.
Also, Tom do you do well with the Shadlings all year and what are some of your favorite colors? I’ve tried them on Pepin a few times and on Lake of the Woods and I just don’t seem to have good luck.
I am heading up to LOTW on friday for a few days pre-fishing for a couple of buddies for the Championship. I have a few colors that have worked really well…one color imo is a very obbious color, but for the sake of the tournament, I am not going to mention the color. Quite yet…
They have a similar wobble to the hornets, not quite as tight. From what I have seen. Hornets are a great bait on leadcore. In general, they pretty much rule Mille Lacs on leadcore…the real test will be next year when everyone gets a shot with the Rockers out there. With only a handful of stores carrying em, and how fast I watched Reed’s sell out of them, they must be working for other guys too. I am not knocking salmo, but with their shirts that say King Of The Slots…there just might be a new contender for that…
On leadcore on the mud or in the basin up on the north end, orangeade has been my best rocker color. Down south on the rocks and points, elton and aunt creepy have been my go to baits.

Tom, how far back / how deep / what kind of line have you been running the #3’s?? I’m guessing they’re gonna run shallower than SR5’s, maybe similar to SSRs? Or do they have a pretty good “bite”??
Chris, do they have a strong enough wobble to feel em’ on leadcore? long-lining on 10XT?
They have a pretty good bite. On leadcore, I run them the same as having a full color out at 2.0 mph.
With mono, I can still feel em really well. With nanofil on lead, I can see the wobble in the rod tip.

Are the shadlings supose to sink?
Let’s make it a point to not see each other cabela’s like the last few times and Ill swap you out that shadling for any of mine. Fair enough?
September 2, 2011 at 3:57 am #992517They have a ton of leadcore potential…they have been one of my 3 favorite baits to pull with lead this year.
You can call reed’s order from them or go right to Lindy’s webpage and order from them!

I know Mike and his guys at HW better than Paul, but Paul is a first class cat as well! Either way Id be pretty damn excited to fish!

Use to wear Croc’s and burned thru them every summer. Switched to the Shimano sandals and they still look like new and wear them every day.
Was just gonna post that. I love mine!

I think i would look to pull this one on the river down here as well as on the lake up there
They dont call em the river rocker for nothing!!! You can run em up to and over 6 mph without them blowing out on ya!

You will like em! I have been using them for about a month now. I ended up buying half of Reed’s stock in them on the way home.
The colors you got are great for mille lacs! Dont over look Aunt creepy either!

July 18, 2011 at 10:47 pm #981868Thill pro series float in the larger sizes for me. I prefer to be able have a big enough float for easy visibility and to not roll under with the waves.
Largest gremlin sinker 18 inches above the chart/orange 1/32 oz Lindy jig and game on!

Thank you guys!
Now what is the limit on northern? looks like the water is going to be cool enough to keep a couple smaller ones.
3 with only one over 30 unless you are on a lake with a protective slot.

Breuer is right on the money… it’s a hybrid… I thought it was a pumpkin but not quite…
And just for the record, it weighed in at 1 pound 15 ounces and measured 11 7/8 inches… so maybe not “quite” 2 pounds there Wallace
And yes, it’s still swimming
Good stuff mj! Why didnt Jack catch it?
