That is a great Ideal. I will be trying this. I have been tying them up in circle and then taping it so that it doesn’t come undone. But, when I put it in a ziplock baggie they get all tangled up. That business card holder looks like it works great. Thank You

Congradulations on the win. Warsaw is a great fishing area that normally pulls some big fish. Is the a site that I can go to see the results?

The Kingkat Tournament that is coming up to the Rock River is a very well organized event. This is not a contest. This is a tournament were all fish are return back to the water. I have been to several of Tanners Tournaments and he puts on one heck of a show for the spectators as well as the fisherman. I would expect around 100 boats to enter this event with I dont think is to much for the span of river you can fish. This is great thing for the area commerence and for the sport of fishing in general.

The spectators are always amazed at the fish in there river and we hope to turn the kids that come to the event on to fishing.

One of the pulls of the area is the size of the river. A guy in a 14′ boat has just as much of a chance winning as someone running a 24′ big jon because of the water depth differences.

I see no problems with tournaments as long as they as run properly. CPR

It depends alot on the way you fish. If your usual fish deep hole the bite will be better during the day. If you normally fih ledges and flats then night time is for you. Its just my theory.

We had a fantastic day. Nice and warm for March and we had the winds of march with us also.

WOW. We had 33 boats to fish the first ever Twisted Cat Tournament. Some good fish was brought in but the bite wasn’t that great. But, with a group of the best fisherman in the area, they found some cats.

1st place – Dan Shelts & Jason Watson with 77 lbs and there biggest 43.1 lbs. That took 2nd biggest cat and won a new Blackhorse Custom Rod.

2nd place – Glen Jasper & Glen Luckett with 61 lbs.

3rd place – Norman Campbell & Colin Overmeyer with 52.6

4th place – Tyrone Buckner & Mark Farrow with one big pig that weighed 48.4 lbs. This took big fish also. Congrats.

5th place – Jason Mathenia & Rex Sitzmore with 34.4 lbs.

    Congradulations to all the winners.

I will try to post some picture today.

A few years ago on the Minnesota I saw a guy use a gallon jug with about a foot of heavy line and a BIG snap swivel to get his rigs out of the trees and snags.
He would put about 2″ of water in the jug and clip it to his line and let the current take it past the snag 20-30 feet,
then he would take up the slack and give it a rip,
most times it came rite out, if not he would just give it more line till he was past the snag and do it again,

Thats a great Ideal with a milk jug. Thanks for the tip.

I use the gaft that stays in the boat all year. It is primarily used during snagging season. With starts March 15 here in Missouri.

Up around the Jefferson City area the shovels are all over the place. We were using small pieces of cut bait and creek chubs. Yes we do have spoonbills in the Missouri river but they are alot more popular in the Osage at Truman and Lake of the Ozarks. The spoons also are pretty common in the Mississippi around St. Louis.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks for the welcome everyone.
Richard, I primarly fish the Missouri and the Mississippi river. I fish from Jefferson City through St. Louis on the Missouri and fish the state line of the big muddy. I also go up to Truman Lake alot. I have a little hunting cabin that we take family vacations and spend some weekends up there. Maybe we could hit the water together some time.

Very cool. I have heard of people doing this behind lock and dams before. They were bottom boncing cut bait for cats. They said the head works best or if the bait is small just cut the side and scale it to let the oils out. Good luck and let me know how it works out.

When I think of Missouri I think of great B-B-Q and fried catfish! Must be almost suppertime Welcome Chris!! What do you fish for in your neck of the woods?

The almighty catfish is my fish of choice. I run a Catfish Tournament called Twisted Cat and fish the Cabelas Kingkat Tournament Series. But if I aint fish for cats any fish that swims will do.

6 grand is a lot. A ceiling hung unit heater would probale be best in a well insulated garage. They do make some effiecent wall mounted boilers set up for radiant heating but they do get costly. You might check into a residential condensing furnace mounted on the ceiling. This will give you the eff. and comfort without a huge installation cost.
    Good luck with the project.
