As in everything the words “little $” and “good one” is nearly a misnomer. Just to share another view, is versatility of the camera. I have a Canon EOS Rebel 300D. 6.3 megapixel and the flash card can hold 142 pictures at full resolution. Comes with software and PC connections. takes great pictures and can interchange lenses for added capability. Planning on getting an 80 to 200 MM zoom to improve long range shots. Saw an enlargement that was 40″ X 40″ that was not pixelated. Unfortunately the bad news is $1150.00 for the basic stuff and extra for additional lenses. Scared to take it in the boat so far. I have to find out if my insurance covers it? Like I said, just another perespective.

Here is a picture I took from a quarter mile away and cropped and resized with my PC. Keep in mind the plane is probably moving close to 180 MPH.

A great question. You gotta love them kids for challenging us adults. I could not answer it either so I typed “Mercury pollution sources” into google. Mercury sources. is one explanation that I found.
Another source for information is:Minnesota Polution Control Agency
And there are many more listed by google.

Easy decision for me. It would be the twin diesel 75 foot Viking with a boom to lift in the 22 foot Ranger “Z” series Commanche with the 275 HP Merc Verado 4 stroke.

Not necessarily an answer but my Ranger Trail has surge type disk brakes and they work exremely well. My rig will stop quicker as a boat and tow vehicle together than the truck will stop by itself.

I have another slant on this. I firmly believe we should ALWAYS slow down and show respect for other fisherpersons, whether they are in a boat or on the bank. Unless you are passing >150 foot away from them. In pool ten recently I dropped off of plane, planning to idle past 2 anchored boats and found myself sitting in the sand in about 1 1/2 foot of water. I got the Ranger off the spot but it cost me $233.00 to get the sand out of the motor. (I am handicapped so getting out to push is not an option!) Even so I am responsible for knowing what the depth is and for operating my rig in a manner so as not to endanger others. I believe any other operating method is detrimental to the perception people have of our sport.

The Guttenberg area bite should be improving soon, Joe. Maybe we will see you and John out there one of these trips.

Keep it and describe it as a found item, or depending on how I felt that day I might give it to your brother? but not likely.

I would also note that there is likely a bit more information available on this event that may or may not change the decision?

I should apologize for this but I won’t.
    Robotic Barber

A popular Des Moines Barber shop had a new robotic barber installed.

A fellow came in for a haircut. As the robot began to cut his hair it asked

    him, “What’s your IQ?”

The man replied, “130.” So the robot proceeded to make conversation about
    physics, astronomy,
investments, insurance, and so on. The man listened intently and said,
    “This is really cool.”

Later, another gent came in for a haircut and the robot asked him as it
    began the haircut, “What’s
    your IQ?”

The man responded, “100.” So the robot started talking about football,
    baseball, and so on. The
man thought to himself, “Wow, this is really cool.”

Later on, a third guy came in to the barber shop. As with the others, the
    robot barber asked him,
    “What’s your IQ?”

    The man replied, “70.”

The robot then said, “So, I understand you Democrats are really excited
    about John Kerry!”

Seems to me to be two different things represented here. One is excerpts of what one candidate has said or actually done with his votes and the other is opinions. Which view is the more credible one? By the way IMO Tony Dean is a jerk.

No Joe, I am not, haven’t been up there in a few years but my nephew goes cattin every spring for them big, dark channel cat below the dam. I poked a sturgeon with the end of my pole, that looked to me to be six foot long and he didn’t even flinch.

Boys, I have seen some of the sturgeon in Jim Falls. There are easily fish in there at 80 to >100 pounds! It is an outstanding one day event. You need to be fit and have heavy equipment.

If it is like the Mercury pickup on the front of the motor, many times a stick or leaf may get pressed into the pickup hole. I just keep a 1/16 drill bit in my console and use it in your fingers to hand turn the debris out of the hole. The fact that yours is stuck on 30 mph sounds like that is exactly what is wrong.

??? It is my belief that there are only blues on the soutern most reaches of the Missouri and maybe the southern most reaches of the Mississippi bordering Iowa? A new Iowa state record 101 pounds blue cat appears to have been caught on a bank line on the Missouri River in Iowa though? It is easy to mistake a large male channel for a blue cat. Omaha news

I think this is an easy one. The lock and dams are numbered, Like 1 through 26. The water held back by dam # 4 is pool #4.

A few years ago I was Muskie fishing on Lake Mille Lac with my friend Ron who lived near Garrison. I had got my lure hung up in the weeds and we were talking and he was sill casting his ten inch long daredevil. When he reached back to make make an incredibly long cast and hooked my line which was snagged up. He took that mighty swing and the damndevil went straight up about 40 feet and came down, hitting me on top of the head so hard I saw a small animated constellation! I had a hat on but it still drew a little blood. He laughed about it, I don’t recall laughing?

They were not trophy’s to anyone but my brother, but last year he had 8 racks stolen in broad daylight from his garage in Guttenberg.

Good post. Let’s see; kicked a pole over the side, lost a pair of sunglasses, bounced a large umbrella out at speed, lost another pair of sunglasses, blew off about a 1/2 dozen hats that sank before I could get back to them, more sunglasses, another pole, three pairs of needle-nose pliers, a fish basket, a dip net, a cooler, worm bait box, a shoe, and there is still time to be spent on the water!

I had a similar experience at a Ranger dealer here in Iowa. I was towing a friends boat, (Bullet) to a prop test run on the Mississippi. We stopped at the dealer because I was thinking of buying a new 521 with a 250 Merc, GPS and all the goodies. I had priced one at a diffrent dealer and it came out to $50,000. I told the sales guy what I was looking for and he said he had a 522, I told him it wouldn’t fit in my garage so I wanted a 521. He asked my friend what we were doing down there and he told him testing props on his Bullet. The sales guy left me standing saying he wanted to see the Bullet? I waited inside for maybe 50 seconds. As I walked out, I met them coming back into the building. the sales guy said, “are you ready to talk about that boat now, I said, “hell no [censored], stuff your boat up your rear, I will buy one somewhere else!”
    We drove away.
I sent an e-mail to Ranger and described it to them. I got a note from the district manager and would have loved to watch how his conversation turned out at that dealer.

It sounds like the motor is dying on you by running out of gas. I would check the bulb to see if it seems to have fuel in it when the motor quits. If it is not fairly solid try pumping it up and then start without choking the engine. If it does then start right up it may be a faulty fuel pump, or the fuel line is not allowing enough fuel to the engine, or the one way valve in the hose is bad, or the tanks is sealed too tightly and is creating a vacuum that does not allow adequate fuel fuel to be pulled from the tank. Or I guess it could actually be flooding and stalling?

Highly likely the end of one of the cables is broken off, They can be replaced. If it is a two cable system,(again likely) I would replace both even if only one is broken.
    Take it apart and look.

Gentlemen, the world is changing, we cannot go backwards unless we stop trying to improve, then we will go backwards and those we are chasing will disappear in the dust ahead of us! confrontational negotiating is a dinasaur. A concensus must be reached. A way to cooperate must be found. Big corporations do not have unlimited deep pockets. They are as fragile as anything. They must strive to meet or exceed the the competition in a world marketplace. I pray for the strikers at Maytag to come out of this having gained something, not having lost everything.
